Greatest live acts list - Wilco number 12
worldrecordplayer replied to Plumplechook's topic in Just A Fan
How is it that I've *never* seen Sunken Treasure, I'm asking myself. I've watched Ashes more times than I can count. -
That was a rugged several days to get through! Hope that never happens again, at least not while Wilco's on tour (and making crazy setlists and collaborations every night)!

From Twitter, they did Cinnamon Girl with MMJ. Also, looks like War on War, Misunderstood, Jesus, Germany, Art.. Tweedy declares an "open stage." http://twitter.com/ElCoopacabra/status/362764609955958784 -

Where s that Tweedy and Glenn footage from? I need more of that! (And why didn't RS link a video that shows the two guitar fronted band they made a point of writing about?..). -
I agree with his take on Donna. I always enjoyed seeing her up on stage, I'm one of the apparently few who liked her singing, especially her wailing in Playin!

Agreed. Wilco goes in my number 1 slot. Followed by Phish. Surprised the Allman Bros. don't even make the top 50. Derek and Warren in front of that rhythm section is a treat. Really hoping Prince makes his way to the Boston area, been reading about his fantastic live shows for some time. -

Saw Arcade Fire in a headlining slot at JazzFest a few years ago. Wasn't familiar with their music, only went because my kids were really encouraging me to check them out. I made my reluctant friends come with me to the Acura stage. We were all impressed, big time. They put on a great show. -
Bobby's slide playing always makes me cringe.

Posted by Richard Thompson on Facebook and circulated in his Beesweb email: "We were delighted to be a part of the AmericanaramA tour, playing in such illustrious company. This really was a rolling festival, with considerable logistics - I think I counted 11 tour buses, and half a dozen trucks to move everything from town to town. For me, touring on this scale was a new experience, and our thanks to Jeff and all with Wilco for including us so often in their set, and thanks to Bob for his generosity."

No topic opened yet for Camden tonight, partial reports from my son indicate Via Chicago opener, and Poor Places, Art, IATTBYH, Kamera, Germany and Passenger Side.

AmericanaramA Concert 21 Hoboken, NJ 7/26/2013

I'm having a fantastic time on vacation on the outer Cape these last 2 weeks, but reading along every night has been a little painful. This set list may just put me over the edge! -

Christ, Warren and Ian Hunter??? Who would've thunk it! I have to get my ears around this one. As for SS, were there really that many people upset about the overs show? I know there was one who posted here (I forget who), but never heard of anyone else. -
My thinking is that they will wait until after the theater showing (August 1?), and then start marketing it for home release. Psyched to learn this, exactly what I was hoping for when they announced the theater showing. I've had what circulates of SD for many years, first on VHS, will be very glad to get a professional release. What a field trip, what a performance!

Weir taught it to them I suppose, and it must have stuck. -
Speaking of studio outtakes, one of my favorite GD tracks of all is Whiskey in a Jar from the So Many Roads box. Just them sitting around in the studio, totally impromptu when Garcia goes into this and the rest of the band joins in. I've listened to that single track hundreds of times. Did I read your post to say you don't like Ladies and Gentlemen? Boy, those April '71 Fillmore East shows are among my favorites.

Thanks for the tips

Heartless Bastards tonight I'm bummed I didn't go to the YLT and B&S show. I could have picked up a good single ticket, but just lamed out and went home. I'm not familiar with B&S at all, so it was easy to pass. Even though my colleague at work was really talking them up (although she thought their set was not up to what she had seen previously from them. she was their primarily for YLT).

Tomorrow Never Knows is amazing. What a testament to the versatility and sheer excellence of Wilco that they can pull that off on a one time basis and do it so brilliantly. P.s., for those here who may not be that familiar with the Dead's later stage repertoire, TNK was a song they were doing. Still shocking to me that Bobby brought this out, and that Wilco performed it like they've been doing it all their lives.

Breaking down the Wilco AmericanaramA set lists
worldrecordplayer replied to sonnyfeeling's topic in After The Show
And don't forget Tomorrow Never Knows. Which from what I've seen of available YouTube vids, is right after Dark California Stars as the most blind blowing of all the Weir sit-ins.- 30 replies

Of course it was fabricated. I think that was part of the joke. John Hodgman even made a joking reference when he said he was getting letters from the crowd questioning the randomness of the randomizer. It was all tongue and cheek.

Me too, and I agree. For instance, I just downloaded this audience recording of the Saturday SS show: Schoeps CMC64>Lunatec V2>Benchmark AD2K (88.2/24bit)> Tascam HD-P2 fob 1/2 distance between stage and SBD on 7 foot mic standrecorded by steven knapp Recorded on a very expensive rig, from the sweet spot. I'd be thrilled to have this, but I also purchased the Roadcase version, and I prefer the Roadcase. By far. YMMV. As for other Roadcase shows, particularly ones that I was not at, my favorite is Wolftrap 2-012-07-18. Fantastic performance.
