  1. Speaking of Jerry shows, a buddy strongly recommended I get this Pure Jerry bundle before they're gone. Which I did, have not arrived yet. http://jerrygarcia.shop.musictoday.com/Product.aspx?cp=640_59388&pc=JY62COMBO
  2. Sounds great. Thanks Bpop for the on the scene reporting, which almost makes me feel like I was there. always the first read of my morning whenever Wilco or Tweedy are on tour. Sent from my PM23300 using Tapatalk
  3. Snowy night in Boston, stayed in and watched my new purchase of Stop Making Sense. Hadn't seen this in a very long time. Still incredible in every way.
  4. I prefer the live versions of every song on YHF. I can't listen to that album anymore, but I love the songs live.
  5. Yes to that, right off the top of my head. And Art of Almost>I Might. I will have to sit with all the albums spread out in front of me to give a proper complete response. But I know those are my picks for BT and TWL.
  6. Yes. I didn't want it to end. Thanks for the Beatles debate here, motivated me to play some. Went with Meet the Beatles (mono versions) from the Capitol Albums Vol. 1 set.
  7. I know it's not my question and I don't get to modify it, but I must. Favorite band currently in existence? Yes, with Phish and the Allmans close behind or just about even. Favorite band ever? Definitely in the top 10 on a list populated by the Dead (definite number 1), Allmans, Hot Tuna, REM, Talking Heads, Clash, Clapton, Beatles, Replacements, Pretenders (that's more than 10 right there).
  8. Same here, although the majority of my shows were likely either pre- or post- Brent, as I was off the bus from '81-September '87.
  9. Agree, I consider that one of their golden eras, but would extend that through '91. The 5 Boston Garden shows I saw in September '91 were outstanding. They never reached that peak again, at least not in any post-'91 show I caught. With all this discussion about Brent, it took me a long long time to get used to his playing, and his singing. I grew up with the Keith and Donna era, was a big difference having Brent 's vocals. But no doubt that Jerry loved Brent in the band.
  10. Picked up the 4/18/70 Record Store Day vinyl release today. 20% off sale at Newbury Comics. Glad I didn't battle my way out in Black Friday to get this. Looking forward to spinning this in a late night session tonight.
  11. Posted to YouTube this week is a JGB video of Don't Let Go, from Capital Theater 4-2-76. Highly recommend it. Posted by davidaron60
  12. So 13 year old Spencer published about his own bar mitzvah 4 years ago. I hope everyone will be able to take a deep breath now, and get this back on topic. I've never been, I hope to make it once, but in the meantime I love listening to the recordings of these shows.
  13. The first SS was announced at the Orpheum show in March, so it's not too late theoretically. But the report of local hoteliers being told no event in '14 has an air of credibility. Bums me out! Sign me up for another benefit show at MassMoca.
  14. Back to '73 Dead, haven't listened to this compilation yet but I imagine it's great. http://www.jambase.com/Articles/120055/Stormy-Mondays-Grateful-Dead-1973-Retrospective-Pt.-1
  15. Re: Road Trips: Vol 2, Number 1: Madison Square Garden: September 1990. Pissed me off that they broke up this run and put out this mish mash of cuts. 9-20-90 one of my all time faves, was sitting 13th row center, deserves its own complete release. Especially that second set.
  16. Listening to the Mile High in '73 compilation, the audio is excellent. Somehow missed this Road Trips release. More proof why '73 is my favorite year. http://www.dead.net/road-trips/road-trips-vol-4-no-3
  17. 40 years ago today in Grateful Dead history, a real keeper, the second night of a 2 night run in Denver. Both nights are fantastic. Played the second set of 11-21 on the GD channel "Today in GD History" show. Catch the 7:00 p.m. replay if you missed it this morning. November '73 was a memorable month in GD music. The Winterland '73 box is "must have." These 2 nights in Denver are off the hook. The 11-21 show was released as a Road Trips. Interesting, Lemieux said this morning that the Road Trips series did not sell. A couple of years ago Hidden Track released a compilation of these 2 n
  18. That link is no longer working. Says "video is private."
  19. Bums me out just thinking about that. Want to scream. What a loss. Trey has certainly been on his game, Phish has been absolutely kicking ass night after night for several years now.
  20. There was an epic SOTM during one of the Boston Garden runs, don't remember off the top whether '93 or '94. Maybe '91.
