  1. I'm thinking of going to Lockin Festival in September. Was not excited to see Ratdog added to the lineup.
  2. I have to get out more, and find more time (less work, less tv). I think the only band mentioned so far that I've even heard of is God Street Wine. Other than that I would think this topic is fictional.
  3. Trombone Shorty at House of Blues, Boston
  4. Great night. Like it on a Friday rather than Sunday. Place was packed, hot and sweaty. My friend who I was with and I both thought it was a better night than 2 years ago, higher energy in the crowd. Lots of calls for Johnny, and whooping and hollering and general mayhem during Cracker's set. I liked the Camper Van set much better last night than last time. Although I always prefer Cracker, love hearing Johnny play, and I like the Cracker songbook better. Can't give a set list, but all the usual suspects were played. CVB played Matchstick Men second song in, which surprised me (although
  5. Yes, but I think previous years were on Sunday. My memory is I didn't go lays year because was the same night as the Pats in the AFC championship game. When that game ended I wish I had gone to the show.
  6. Theater 1839, SF July '77? Recently got that as one of a 3 pack of Pure Jerry releases. Love it.
  7. too early for you to get out? set times are 8:30 and 10:00
  8. FYI tickets still available, but they expect to be SO by time doors open at 8:00
  9. I missed last year's show, very much looking forward to tonight. I know I'll have fun, and I'll file a report.
  10. I'd be happy to be the firing officer on that sub. I grew up on LI, graduated h.s. in '75, Piano Man territory. I really couldn't stand his music then, and I still can't. Much to the chagrin of a lot of my friends who think he's "a great performer" and have no idea why he makes me want to vomit. Feel the same way about the Eagles. Joe Walsh solo is a different story. Tonight for me, Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker at the Middle East, Cambridge MA.
  11. I want to buy at least one of these Tweedy shows, so I guess I'll get the last one if that's a complete show. Unless anyone who was there suggests to get one of the others instead.
  12. Grateful Dead, Go To Heaven. I'd put it up buy I'm on a phone. An abomination. Maybe they thought it was ironic or funny or something but I could never look at that cover. After all those years of Kelly/Mouse and Rick Griffin covers, yuck. Sent from my Windows Phone using Tapatalk
  13. That is interesting, and weird. Must be some royalty or contractual issue with WTA?
  14. Oh, don't get your brow all furrowed, all in jest. I'm certainly not going to know the ins and outs of those metal fests you go to.
  15. I've had the impression from various Instagram and FB postings that time has been spent in the Loft laying tracks. I thin Nels wrote on FB several weeks back that he was in the Loft recording guitar tracks. I would love to see some tour dates, I'm in need of several Wilco shows.
  16. Gee that Solid Sound, why does Wilco play that every time?!
  17. July 4th weekend? Ugh. Couldn't pick a worse weekend. I hope someone talks some sense to them.
  18. Favorite Beatles moments: February 9, 1964 and February 16, 1964, February 23, 1964 and September 12, 1965. The Ed Sullivan Show performances. I was 6 years old for the 1964 performances, but already a music fan and Beatles fan. I still remember my parents waking me up to bring me downstairs to the den to watch with the whole family, and being absolutely mesmerized. Lifelong Beatles fan. http://www.edsullivan.com/artists/the-beatles
  19. I very much hope you are correct about that. Lodging and traffic would be extremely tough. Not to mention my own family schedule that weekend.
  20. Jeff Tweedy solo announced for Mountain Jam, June 5-8, Hunter Mountain, NY. Wonder what, if anything, this means for more Tweedy solo dates and Wilco touring schedule? http://www.jambase.com/Articles/120440/Mountain-Jam-2014-RatDog-Mule-Avetts-Tweedy-And-More
  21. It occurred to me that it would be very easy to say, "We're not doing it this year." So the continued silence has me thinking that maybe, just maybe, they are putting it together for '14. Wishful Thinking? Probably, but I'll keep some degree of hope alive until they snuff it out officially.
  22. The diversity of our musical heritage and interests here on Via Chicago has been eye opening to me. The power of Wilco.
  23. A few that come quickly to mind, and having been reminded of in perusing some of the posts here: Hot Tuna-Hot Tuna, we always called it "Acoustic" Beatles-Meet the Beatles (not their first official release, but was the first U.S. release so I count it). I still remember the day I first heard this at 6 years old REM-Murmer Elvis Costello/Attractions-My Aim is True Wilco-AM Allman Brothers-The Allman Brothers Band Pretenders-Pretenders New Riders-NRPS The Clash-The Clash English Beat-I Just Can't Stop It
