  1. Tonight at a restaurant in Kendall Square, Cambridge, EVOO. As I walked in, Leave Me Like You Found Me was playing, immediately followed by Art of Almost. Our waitress came to take our drink order and of course I said something along the lines of "I just heard back to back Wilco songs here," she said the owner-chef and his wife are big fans, they play Wilco there all the time. The wife came over and chatted with us, they are 2 time Solid Sound vets with their young children, huge Wilco fans. I told her I am coming back frequently. Sent from my Windows Phone using Tapatalk

  3. My friends and I booked rooms at Williams Inn. They have rooms.
  4. I assume you got the cd? From what I can tell, the vinyl version doesn't have any extras, just wondering if that's correct.
  5. Thinking about going to this festival this year. Anybody go last year? Interested in learning about the experience, travel, festival logistics, etc. http://www.locknfestival.com/

  8. Finished listening to both discs of SRO. Really like em, right up my alley. Can't believe I've missed this band all these years. Getting tickets tomorrow for the Boston show.
  9. I've now listened to 3 of the Largo shows. Each one is great, and is my "favorite", if you know what I mean. Yes, he has a cold, which he frequently refers to, but does not detract from the overall performance or my enjoyment. Lots of hysterical banter. Particularly the conversion to Judaism during the last night. And if you get a chance, listen to the Fillmore show up on bt.etree first. Not here's some great banter about the SF v. LA rivalry, which he then picks up on during the first Largo show. Totally hysterical, all the more so having heard the Fillmore show. Four nights leads to lo
  10. I'm late to the Drive-By Truckers. They're coming to Boston and I've wanting to catch up with their music and see them. So yesterday I was buying music and noticed one of their cd's prominently displayed in a recommendation rack. I assumed it was something current and never looked at the year until I got home and realized what I bought, Southern Rock Opera, is from 2001. So, my question, how representative is this of the current sound and lineup of the band? Would welcome suggestions for other releases to get.
  11. This is a pretty good take on what separates the Dead from other bands: the songs. You can always quibble with a "best of" list, but this writer does an excellent job making the point, hard to argue that any of these tunes don't rate. http://www.stereogum.com/1628522/the-10-best-grateful-dead-songs/list/
  12. Somehow missed that show. Haven't seen him in a long time. One of the big regrets of my rock n roll career was back in the day going to see REM at the Harvard Gym, must have been the time of Radio Free Europe/Murmur, with Hüsker Dü opening. We weren't familiar with HD at the time, and my wife and I spent their set outside. Within a few months I was kicking myself over that. Sorry for the topic diversion.
  13. I would definitely do that, I had no idea. Thanks for the tip. Next time.
  14. I thought the announcement was that the 25th was the "anniversary" show. I got tix for that night.
  15. Dwork gives this performance a "hot and cold" review in the Compendium. I'm taking a pass.
