  1. If anyone has two spares for either night please HMU
  2. that was fucking beast. there seemed to be a bit more of a lively atmosphere the second night and it did seem like the band wanted to play just a little more but they didn't get to. over the two nights I only would've loved to hear ELT and Poor Places and that woulda been everything perfect. They played Late Greats which I was shouting for a bit. Only downside was the prick beside me shouting "puke for me Jeff" about four times during the gig. dick. Sorry, other downside.... that I can't just go see them every night!
  3. Don't think they played Poor Place, but fuck me, it was deadly.
  4. Ahahahaha! I have figured it out. Thank fuck. I was going mad.
  5. I'm using a PC. When I highlight them there is no "extract" option on the right click menu.
  6. Sorry...this is absolutely wrecking my head. PLease explain how to watch these videos. I'm going fucking mental!!! I know I've done this before. I have h-join and the one you recommend in this post nothing is working. How do I extract them!!!!>!!?!?> !?>
  7. going to both. oh yeah. that impossible germany acl video got me in the mood.
  8. fucking sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
  9. The fact that I'm listening to all of that stuff at the moment (except Dr. Dog who I've never heard of) is nice but mainly, I really like Jeff's quote about albums having their own internal logic. I'd never been able to articulate that before. Damn you Tweedy you legend.
  10. some kind of rock n roll influenced album I'd wager.
  11. whatever happens, you're still gonna have to count, so don't leap to steve vai when you think of theory.
  12. The question is pointless. Completely. It doesn't necessarily matter if you do or don't study it as your examples have shown (Dylan, Young etc...). Studying isn't gonna make you better or worse at music (in terms of music you like), you'll just be doing it a different way. Rules aren't necessarily good or bad. As for Wilco - they follow lots of rules about how rock is made and played. Glenn is probably well schooled in music theory and Jeff and Nels (for example) probably know tons even if they learned it intuitively and may not know the scholarly words for certain terms. Doesn't mean
  13. Jeff's singing on Side With The Seeds is better than ever. Also, that Hoodoo Voodoo song is dreadful. Fun maybe...but dreadful!
  14. Why the fuck does Pete Townshend have a blog is a better question.
  15. I think the fact that Daniel still hasn't been found by True Love makes it a little depressing. Beautiful song though.
  16. Are you talking about the Amino Acid Rehab thing he did that he mentions in the Under The Radar interview? I'm not sure but I think that that occured after the gig we are talking about... can't be sure of the timeline however... there seemed to be a few lost years in between Figure 8 and his re-emergence in late 2002.
  17. I've heard that concert. He was complaining about not being able to feel his fingers cos he slept on his arm on the plane. Its fairly fucking depressing to listen to. He can barely finish any songs and he sounds incredibly frustrated and disheartened.
  18. the big star version is great. i just love how sparse's elliott's is in lucky three. its not better or whatever - i mean its pretty much identical. i just prefer his version.
  19. Occasionally post but there's not a lot to discuss anymore... well at the moment there is with New Moon but for long periods nothing that interests me come up much on it, unfortunately. But its still great in its own way, and Charlie is a great guy.
  20. I really like it... I mean like all of his songs, so that's not suprising! But I still think its slightly weird for him. Doesn't sound like anything else on the record, does it? Its uptempo and the chords are simply stummed all the way through. I wonder what it would've sounded like on XO. But I mean, sometimes you lose context listening to Elliott Smith songs, because they're off such a high standard.
  21. Obviously the Beatles influence most things and I'd probably wouldn't be wrong if I said that The Beatles were one of Elliott Smith's favourite bands - he did about 10 covers of their songs. I should correct myself - What I said about Elliott Smith chords, maybe I should've said guitar playing. A folkish finger picking pattern with the melody played through a picking pattern and slightly unusual (though not absurd) chord changes and especially a chord sequence often dictated by (or producing) a rising or falling chromatic or scale sequence through the chords themselves, e.g. the chorus of Pl
