  1. I haven't really looked at the possibilities, but I would be surprised if USC was able to make up enough ground in the computers to surpass Texas, even if the voters vaulted them ahead of the Longhorns. Plus, a Missouri win would only bolster Texas's computer ranking. I also think it would be a little different than those previous two instances. Both Nebraska and Oklahoma were coming right off of blowout losses to Colorado and Kansas State, respectively. This year, an OU loss could make it look like Texas belonged in the Big 12 Championship game after all, and Texas would be far from "lim
  2. I've never liked point differential as a means to determine tiebreakers. It still encourages RUTS, no matter what it is capped at. For instance, why should a 3-point win over an arch rival on the road be so much worse than a 20-point win at home over another team. A win should be a win and I actually like the ACC and SEC way a lot better. If 2 of the 3 teams are that evenly matched atop the rankings to where there is no way to decide between the two, then it should go to head-to-head. And if one of the teams clearly has the advantage, then that team should go. It still benefits teams tha
  3. That's largely subjective and based solely on the Oklahoma-Texas Tech game. Texas has steamrolled Baylor, Kansas on the road, and A&M, limiting them to 37 combined points (and 7 of those were a late touchdown by Baylor against reserves). And I don't think that Oklahoma would be able to get off to a fast start against Texas like they have against other teams over this four-game 60-point run. I think if Texas and Oklahoma played 10 times this season, it would go 5-5 or 6-4 either way.
  4. From the ACC website: 7. The tied team with the highest ranking in the Bowl Championship Series Standings following the conclusion of regular season games shall be the divisional representative in the ACC Championship Game, unless the second of the tied teams is ranked within five-or-fewer places of the highest ranked tied team. In this case, the head-to-head results of the top two ranked tied teams shall determine the representative in the ACC Championship Game.
  5. I understand that. And I can almost guarantee that the Big 12 will change this to mirror what the ACC and SEC do to break similar ties.
  6. Yeah, the bad guys won out. Nothing makes me sicker to my stomach than seeing Oklahoma with a chance for a National Championship in a year in which we beat them and finished with the same record. Proponents of the BCS talk about the regular season being the playoff. Only as long as you don't lose late. And it doesn't matter that you beat the team that is a few hundredths of a point ahead of you.
  7. More TCU Rumors (from the Star-Telegram)
  8. That's a good point. I hadn't thought of that scenario because it hasn't happened very often where a team or teams have sewn everything up so early. And something would be lost if those games didn't mean anything. EDIT: Although I would add that a loss by Alabama or Florida in either situation would certainly be bad for the loser of the SEC Championship game. For example, if Alabama beat Auburn but lost to Florida, with its one loss, it would have a good chance of still making the playoff, whereas two straight losses would definitely knock them out of contention.
  9. If you don't use conference champions, it will never happen. Every conference (the big six) has to get its share of the money. Because of this, and in the interest of fairness, I think the best way would be to have a 12-team playoff, which would ensure high-ranking teams from Non-BCS conferences would get in. The problem there, though, is that leads to a four-week playoff, which I think most people are trying to avoid. In any kind of playoff, you would almost have to get rid of conference championship games, but what conference wants to do that? Or go back to an 11-game season, but what
  10. There are so many things that could still happen, the possibilities are endless. But I don't know that any situation could arise where we would ever get a playoff, though. Personally, I think it's hilarious and sad that there are so many bowl games with half-empty stadiums and no viewers. An 8-team playoff would be great, preceded by a streamlined bowl system that awards berths based simply on merit as opposed to how many fans they will bring. The fact that Notre Dame would have possibly gone to the Gator Bowl or Cotton Bowl this year until they lost to Syracuse was a shame. The problem
  11. I completely agree, especially with your last paragraph. I was just making the argument for Texas, because in the end, someone is going to get screwed. I'm not sure how my previous argument doesn't make any sense, though. Because I think the overall total resumes of both Oklahoma and Texas are very similar. OU played a couple of better teams out of conference in TCU and Cincinnati, but also played an FCS team and the worst team in FBS in Washington. Texas beat the Big 12 North champion, Missouri, which Oklahoma didn't play. Texas had the more impressive win over Kansas, although this c
  12. I agree. It really all comes down to the human voters. The computer advantage will be reduced to where if everything remained the same, OU would jump us next week in the BCS rankings. I understand Stoops's point. But the only problem with his argument is that if everyone wins next week, Tech is so far out of it, that it does only come down to an evaluation of Oklahoma or Texas. In that scenario, Texas wins. Or at least should win. My only hope is that other human voters see this and either bump Texas up or move Oklahoma down. Another possibility is that Florida State beats Florida,
  13. I know you're a big anti-Texas guy, but if it really does come down to Oklahoma and Texas, shouldn't the outcome of a game played on a neutral field have the most significance?
  14. I don't know how y'all handle the winters up there.
  15. I know that for a few of their early albums, they just recorded what they had been playing live. This is especially true for Please, Please Me. Since their live shows always contained a lot of these covers, those got included on the albums.
  16. What You're Doing has always been one of my favorites.
  17. Those first three songs is the best start to any of their albums.
  18. I'm officially scared. Has Obama announced what types of people are going to be designated for the internment camps? If it's white male conservatives, I'm in deep trouble.
  19. It will be interesting to see how Texas fills the point guard void left by DJ Augustin. AJ Abrams is a much better shooting guard who can space the floor and I'm not sure Justin Mason should be running the offense for 35 minutes a game. Which leaves Dogus Balbay, who played his first game last night. Can a committee approach work?
  20. Or its self-sufficient, money-making athletic department.
  21. Doesn't it get tiresome typing in a dollar sign for the 's' in Texas?
  22. As with any head coach prospect, you never know what you are going to get once he actually becomes the head coach. But I think you're a little too enamored with yardage statistics instead of looking at the big picture of how Muschamp's defense has performed this year. Of course, first of all, who hasn't Oklahoma and Texas Tech lit it up against? Against OU, Texas held them to less than 2 yards a carry, sacked Bradford 3 times and picked him off twice, while limiting OU to 14 second-half points. Against Tech, the defense didn't fare quite as well. But Texas was a dropped interception awa
  23. You underestimate the ability of sports talk radio hosts to fill 3-4 hours worth of airtime.
  24. No, I don't want him making any other changes. Just college football playoffs.
