  1. I read (well....skimmed; the book was poorly written) the recent bio on Gary. Troubled but nice guy. I remember in Dragon magazine he always addressed the audience as "Gentle Readers". Btw, I have two big boxes of D&D stuff and Dragon magazines. WTH am I going to do with that stuff? My kids don't want it, there is no resale value....
  2. Hey, we did the Gary Gygax pilgrimage too, right after I got my license in 84, Didn't find him but did stop at the Dungeon right in the heart of Lake Geneva. Also, the only time I did stay in a hotel on tour was the nite after my first show at Alpine in 87. Stayed at the Playboy Club In Lake Geneva. I don't recall who rented the room but I do know we had a bunch of bikers stay there too. That was interesting.
  3. Lammy did you stay in hotels during tours? I never did, we always slept in cars or tents or under cars.
  4. Kevin, it boggles my mind that Trump supporters, people who express love and care for this country, continue to ignore the very plain fact that Trump is pandering to them shamelessly. The death spiral of the GOP continues.....
  5. That Neil Young show was great, supporting his Freedom album. By total chance, I received a first gen recording of that concert a few months afterwards from a kid I worked with whos dad recorded the show.
  6. Cripes! 92? That's crazy!
  7. Yesterday I was thinking about Poplar Creek, a local outdoor shed in the NW suburbs of Chicago that closed back in the early 1990s and I had a realization. I saw so many concerts there in the summer of 1989.... Metallica and the Cult Allman Bros and Little Feat Bob Dylan Neil Young and Maria McKee Jerry Garcia Band and Ratdog Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna Stevie Ray Vaughn and the Stray Cats Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and The Replacements along with a dozen Grateful Dead shows all over the Midwest during the spring and summer tours. This is not counting all the concerts I saw at Met
  8. Been listening to 6/27/83, bits and pieces. My buds first show, he raves about it. I did like Poplar Creek as a venue although I didn't know how good it really was at the time (compared to the stadium shows in the future, ugh).

I'm not a big cheese guy. Gimme some cheddar or pepper jack or Colby but live cheeses is way too much for my palate. Quick story-I was in Amsterdam with a whole bunch of inlaws, sitting around and gabbing. Someone breaks out a bunch of cured sausages and some live cheeses from France. It was funny...I was chowing down on chunks of sausage and more than a few folks there couldn't even fathom the idea of eating some. Now those cheeses......I could smell from 10 feet away but I figured what the hell. Popped a piece in my mouth and the experience of knowing what its like to lick the inside of a ga

Today I saw Bluebirds frolicking with American Goldfinches. It was a colorful feast for the eyes.
  23. Listened to portions of 7/19/74 last night. Phil is so high in the mix that he almost overpowers Jerry n Bob. Bombs galore. WRS with a Spanish jam that segues into Eyes.....beautiful stuff. That wall of sound is crazy.
