  1. It was great! I'm not a fan of the Chicago Theater, but I kind of get the band's "Gold Coins for Gold Soundz" mentality. Can't blame a band for cashing in on a reunion tour. That said, they sounded great and I loved the setlist - heavy on "Brighten the Corners" - my favorite Pavement album. I went to the show with one of my sons - my other son saw them kick of their tour in San Diego and my daughter saw them last week in Denver. So my family had the full court press on Pavement this tour.
  2. Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit
  3. Anyone have an update or inside information on when the vinyl and CD versions of Cruel Country will be released? I've not seen anything on the interwebs.
  4. I was all set to pull the trigger for a ticket to the show Monday in Chicago, but tickets were really expensive and I'm already going to two shows next week. Enjoy and please report back.
  5. Not me, but my oldest son will be there (my daughter was at the show Wednesday at Red Rocks). If you see him - he's a big, friendly guy - tell him I said "hey!" Have a great time!
  6. Agree that the first album is fantastic - singer sounds like Lou Reed if Lou had been born and raised in Dublin.. The follow-up was a step backwards IMO.
  7. Completely agree about Wet Leg and would add Beach Bunny and Indigo De Souza to the list of newer artists that I'm really enjoying. I'll check out Plaines.
  8. Saturday: Brandi Carlisle (for my wife's birthday).
  9. One of my favorite bands. I've seen them many times live and it's always been a great show They have a small, but highly devoted following. You likely know their drummer, John Wurster, from Superchunk and Bob Mould Band. Their new album is quite good. Enjoy!!
  10. What a great story - loved it. There's a great song on the The Baseball Project's 3d album campaigning for Dale's induction into the Hall of Fame.
  11. The Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio
  12. Lots of great ideas and names tossed around in this thread. So who volunteers to approach Jeff on this?
  13. Awesome. Bring hearing protection.
  14. Alejandro Escovedo and Lydia Loveless (and others) at Day 3 of Fitzgerald's American Music Festival.
  15. Son Volt and The Waco Brothers (among others) at Day 1 of Fitzgerald's American Music Festival.
  16. It sure was. I hope the secret service agents who were in the vehicle corroborate Ms. Hutchinson's testimony. If they deny or contradict it, that would be red meat for the "witch-hunt" crowd.
  17. Yesterday was the first Father's Day in the last seven that I was together with all four of my children. Two have moved to California and one to Denver. It was an excellent Father's Day.
  18. Closest town for me is Jackson. According to the Googles, there are no record stores in Jackson.
