  1. I just finished "The Kite Runner" and "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini. Both were extraordinary.
  2. That book opened my eyes (and ears) to many bands I had overlooked. It's fantastic.
  3. ^^^ 50 shows in any year is impressive. Congratulations on your retirement and on achieving your post-retirement mission..

    Today

Even though I was warned repeatedly not to go back there, today I'm going back to Rockville (MD) for a meeting.
  5. Au Cheval is pretty great for burgers too. Love Kuma's and was shocked they closed the store in Lakeview.
  6. I abandoned vinyl in 1987 and haven't looked back so I'm not as familiar with post-1987 album sides as I once was (prior to 1987). That said, Side 2 of "Who's Next" is pretty great.
  7. My wife worked hard on the Casten campaign and was invited to and attended his victory party last night. I shudder to think what my house would have been like this morning had Roskam won! Underwood's victory was even more surprising to me. Some of the races on the state and county level were decided by les than 500 votes. Crazy.
  8. Daylight savings time ends this weekend, so when you're in town, it will be dark by 5:30ish. Oz Park (if you're talking about the one in the Lincoln Park/De Paul area is not worth the trip. The best source for local concerts is The Chicago Reader's website. If you like blues, Kingston Mines and Buddy Guy's Legends always have good live music. For people who have not spent a lot of time in Chicago, if the weather is decent, I always recommend the Architectural Boat Cruise down the Chicago River. The river walk is also nice. Enjoy your visit.
  9. My wife was born and raised in Boston, so I'm happy for her side of the family.
  10. remphish, how was it? What question did you ask?
