  1. Bumping this old thread for the benefit of those of you (like me) still listening to music on an old iPod classic. I found a guy on eBay who will swap out the hard drive on my 164gb iPod with a 360gb flash memory. It's more expensive than I thought it would be, but now I'll be set for life (or longer) and won't have to be as selective about the music I purchase for fear of running out of storage. The seller claims it's seamless -- everything (music and album artwork) gets transferred over and he replaces the battery for free.
  2. The riff from "How Soon Is Now?" was my ringtone for several years.
  3. Set list from Friday's show in Chicago: 1. You are Here 2. Forever 3. Black Flowers 4. Don't have to be So Sad 5. Ashes 6. She May, She Might 7. Naples (Antitem cover) 8. Big Day Coming (acoustic) 9. Here You Are ---------------- 10. Out Of The Pool 11. From a Motel 6 12. Here to Fall 13. Shades of Blue 14. For You Too 15. We're an American Band 16. Shaker 17. Autumn Sweater 18. Today Is The Day 19. I Heard You Looking (with Rick Rizzo and mark Greenberg of Eleventh Dream Day) ---------- 20. That's What You Always Say (Dream Syndicate Cover with Rizzo and Greenberg) 21. Prisoners of Rock 'n'
  4. They were great! Two sets -- the first of which was pretty quiet (lots of songs from the new one). The second set rocked. Rick Rizzo and Mark Greenberg (both from Eleventh Dream Day) joined them onstage for three songs including "I Heard you Looking." Ira probably said 20 words total between songs. Have fun tomorrow.
  5. I watched two excellent documentaries recently. The first is "Icarus" on Netflix -- about the Russian Olympic doping scandal. The second was on MTV[!] - a career retrospective on R.E.M. that originally came out in 2014.
  6. In a word, "no." The Cubs are loaded. And you can't begin to imagine how much it hurts me to say that!
  7. Winston -- Harmon Killebrew, Alex Rodriguez and Ken Griffey Jr.?
  8. Opening Day is here. Happy New Year, baseball fans.
  9. And good on the person who sent PT the Facebook note -- look at how meaningful it was to PT. In the last few years, I've started sending email notes to journalists who write stories or columns I enjoy (and even some with whom I disagree). Without fail, I get a nice email back thanking me for taking the time to write.
  10. I watched "Lucky" last night. But it was the wrong "Lucky." I mistakenly watched the "Lucky" movie set in NYC (starring Bari Kang) where a nice cab driver/auto mechanic from India (nicknamed "Lucky") becomes a driver for a slime ball, hooker-killing, drug dealer. No Harry Dean Stanton. No David Lynch. I'm an idiot.
