Some interesting opinions here, thanks. Those suggesting also another studio is a good one. I am not saying Jeff is necessarily complacent, but getting him (and the band) out of their comfort zone could provide dividends.

Talking about a name one e.g. Nigel Goodrich. One who would stand up to Jeff and occasionally say these lyrics need a little work or that arrangement is not too exciting. May lead to some difficult times in The Loft but could mean we get a record with a bit more light and shade than the likes of Cruel Country. I think in general the songs are there, but someone who occasionally told Jeff some hard truths could help produce a much more interesting record

Yes. I am a vinyl person, but personally I find for these archive type sets with demos, alternates and live tracks that a digital format is much better. Easy to skip tracks and one doesn't have to get up every 18-20 minutes to flip them over. I wonder how many plays in particular these huge vinyl sets actually get or do they mostly sit in the corner of the room looking like the monolith from 2001. Prince's Sign O The Times super deluxe vinyl set had 13 LPs. Great album but who's going to get through that more than once?

Really not doing much for me, it is more an ordeal to get through it right now. there's a good EP in there I think. Took me about a year to like Exile on Main street though. Try and find your electric guitar, Jeff!

No record stores in Wyoming?

Not with those who say it sounds more like Wilco. To me it is Love is the King part 2 (which was Warm pt 3). Hardly any backing vocals, keyboards almost non existent, virtually no Nels and Glenn doesn't seem to be playing much that Spencer hasn't probably already played on these songs. There are a few good songs, but the whole thing is just so downbeat it makes me hope that Jeff is getting some professional help, he sounds so depressed. I am sure songwriting is part of his way of dealing with it. After I listened to it in the car I switched to the Sirius/XM 60s station

What I expect except Jeff said, "see you next year". I imagine they may take something of a break next year though after intense activity this one.

They are booked for festivals in Europe late June this year. This would not have been the case had it taken place in 2021, I would expect them to return to the normal weekend. Whether next one will be 2023 or 2024 remains to be seen.

Apart from DB showing up and Sammy's magnificent Helpless rendition it was a bit flat and actually something of a snoozefest. Too many similar songs played in a similar way. Some great moments of course, but my least favorite of the 3 closing sets I have witnessed. Quite a few people near me (right up front) left early muttering things about lack of beach balls ... And Sukeriae is the best thing he has done since (at least) Sky Blue Sky

Absolutely not. It was great to hear the album in full with no stage patter until the encore although I got the longer sets on Sat and Sun -

There is an easy way to have achieved what they wanted and keeping everybody happy. Van Morrison did this kind of thing with Astral Weeks live a while back, come out and play a set of "hits"/obscurities, then an interval (if they want), then the album in full. Reservations ends and lights up.They could still insert the string quartet halfway through as an overture to YHF "Platinum" tickets for these shows were around $400, for a 70 minute set that's pretty rough. I paid $175 plus fees for front row on Saturday and I loved it. Friday night would have been tougher -
Why do you need both? Don't they have the same content? Personally, and I am talking from real experience, an11 LP expanded version is not going to get many plays in my house. It ends up being some sort of huge trophy taking up way too much space. (Ripped) CDs or downloads are the way to go for me for demos/live albums etc. changing a side every 15 or 20 minutes gets tedious fast. Presume there's a nice book to flick through though.

yeah 2019 lineup

Looking at the durations of the songs they are almost exactly the same as the record with presumably the same arrangements. Pretty pointless release I think.

Yes, the only reasonably priced option it seems (I already have a hotel booked in Williamstown)

3 day pass $199 "Friends of festival" $424 FOF + lodging at Tourists $3600-4100 !! FOF + Lodging at Williams Inn $2400!! College Residence Hall for 2 $585 (3 nights) The last one was $405 in 2019 which I thought was pricey for what it was - no AC, shared bathrooms, minimal furniture and bedding, but in North Adams

Tanglewood 2008, superb. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/wilco/2008/tanglewood-music-center-lenox-ma-4bd6cfba.html -
Yeps see you there. Believe there have been shuttles from NYC or Boston previously not sure though.

I also have a special birthday next year and also from the UK originally! No public transport, believe there have been shuttle buses sometimes to popular areas nearby I have been twice, first time I stayed in a motel in Wilmington, Vermont which was about a 25 minute drive away. 2nd time I stayed in student dorms in town, about 15 minutes walk away. That is a great location but no air conditioning and pretty uncomfortable rooms for quite a lot of money. I have heard this will be an option again in 2022. This time I have booked a place in Williamstown which i
