Conversely. not everything has to be free. People have the right to try and earn a living. And it's not as if the marketplace is flooded with books about Wilco.

Really don't understand the bad feeling about the venue. It is a truly beautiful place in a great location and the sound is stellar. Wilco are a live act with quite a following and have outgrown smaller venues, the alternative could be one night at the United Center rather than 4 shows at a theater. Then certain people would be pining for the days they played Chicago Theater.

There will always sadly be a minority who talk, text and shout inanities. What I witnessed last night was an exuberant home town crowd who stood, danced, sang along (mostly) in the right places. I have witnessed way worse crowd behaviour, even at Solid Sound to give just one example. It's a fact of life and you just have to shut it out best you can and get into the performance. For me last night that was not an issue.

So what are people expecting from this year's festival? It appears to me that Wilco last played shows in December 5 years ago (also in Chicago). Will there be any seasonal surprises?

For the hell of it I chose a $55 ticket for Seattle, top price available. Total came to $73 Addons $10 Service Fee $4 Facility Charge $4 Order processing charge
-
I think they just include them in the original price you see. They are always there.

I think it's a bit late to have much of a choice (if any) unless you buy from the secondary ticket market. I would say if you are on a higher row downstairs then anything central is fine. Double letter rows out to the side are not necessarily better than central single letter rows.

Anyone else miss "Art of Almost" in the live show?

Needs a long rest. I found it awesome in 2011 when it was new to me, but after hearing it multiple times I came to the conclusion that it's not really much of a song, and the initial enthusiasm the band had for playing it had dissipated somewhat. -
4 groups 1 YHF=ST= AGIB (varies) 4 SBS 5 BT 6 WTA=TWL (they kind of merge for me) 8 SW 9 AM 10 SCH=OTJ (OTJ up half a place after a few listens)

Songs came across pretty well live (Tues in Toronto). Went back to the album and it still seems something of an ordeal to get through. I have said this before, Wilco should do an album of new songs performed live (like Neil Young has done in the past), not sure the studio has helped them on the last few releases.

Wilco — 8 October 2019, Toronto, Canada (Budweiser Stage)

Eveybody was stood up in the 100 sections. Some crazy dancing going on too. Awesome show! Think he said "There won't be many more" -
From the (excellent) feature in Uncut, Jeff says "Rock music has become boring to me" and "Nobody needs new Wilco music".
-
Joy that a new Wilco album has been released, this has turned to disappointment (albeit after 1 listening). This is really "Warmest" or "Hot". It isn't really a Wilco album and I would say it is the weakest of the 3 albums.
-
My reaction is joy.

Not sure it does mean that, the thrust of the review is more about the political aspect of Nebraska. It was an album of demos featuring only one musician (Bruce), I don't expect the new album to sound like that.

who would you like to see Jeff collaborate with?

Aaron Draplin https://wilcostore.com/collections/new-items/products/wilco-x-field-notes-box-set?variant=15334161514531 -
But depends where you bought the vinyl I guess. Where did you?
-
He tries to write a song a day. That's a lot of songs!
-
Jeff says in his book that he does demos with Spencer and then Glenn comes in and adds his own drum pattern. That would suggest the songs are pretty much finished before the rest of the band gets involved. Certainly could explain the relative lack of variation since Sukierae in Tweedy/Jeff Tweedy/Wilco releases.

new Wilco fan here - what are the best live recordings?
summerdai replied to nocertaintyattached's topic in Just A Fan
You should start with Kicking Television of course. Brilliant live album.
