  1. I saw that Jeff had announced the dates on fb around 10.30pm (Eastern), by 10.31 i had booked a (refundable) hotel
  2. One reply, guess this place really is dead or at least on a ventilator!
  3. I have 2 front of stage tickets, think they cost about $77 each including fees, I live in Canada, border still closed so probably best to sell them. Hard tickets I would like it if you also paid for mail costs with tracking. Send a PM please and post here.
  4. Has this been mentioned anywhere? Is this site dead apart from listing Tweedy Show content? https://mailchi.mp/b76b2c139f9b/solid-sound
  5. Should have been in love Misunderstood California Stars A Shot in the Arm Secret of the Sea Jesus etc The Late greats Impossible Germany Wilco (the song) I Might When the Roses Bloom Again RNG If I Ever Was a Child Love is Everywhere (Beware) focusing more on "hits" than necessarily my faves.
  6. Have to disagree, I find them rather dreary. The songs are there but lacking the magic that elevated them to produce a dizzy pop masterpiece. One can hear Jeff doing some of these songs solo these days, but his guitar playing is certainly more interesting now, as is his singing arguably.
  7. Normally ok if it comes with Canada Post, if it is UPS or something then all bets are off.
  8. Don't forget about import charges, you may be almost doubling the price! I guess you want the coloured vinyl, but the vinyl box set is $106 on amazon.ca (free shipping) and the CD set an incredbly reasonable $37. I pre-ordered both, may cancel the vinyl later though. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B08H5DG744/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B08H5DD75Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  9. There was a bit of Fleetwood Mac's Oh Well just before the end too.
  10. On an Android phone, tapping the screen removes the comments. Doesn't appear to be possible on an iPhone.
  11. Some are saying no shows (in general) until Fall 2021 (when there is hopefully a vaccine), which would also mean no Solid Sound next year
  12. Well it was technicallyTuesday as it started after midnight! Anyway performance is on Youtube and is very nice. Obviously recorded a few days ago though as Jeff had a beard.
  13. Excellent. Really jealous. In case it happens again, remind me how much it cost.
  14. I don't have the book, but may well get it. Doesn't the author also actually write stuff, give opinions etc. I doubt it is a book that consists exclusively of lists of which musician played what on each track etc It is also available in an electronic version at a much cheaper price for Kindle. Presumably this version can be updated as new information becomes available.
  15. Conversely. not everything has to be free. People have the right to try and earn a living. And it's not as if the marketplace is flooded with books about Wilco.
  16. I wasn't there last night, but could the person who got the California Stars dedication be Jay Bennett?
  17. And I agree with you about arenas, but I have seen them in big places opening for REM and Neil Young and they still brought it. I think they could be an arena band if they wanted that.
  18. Fair enough, have to say I walked out of there with a transcendental feeling last night, after wondering on Sun if that was still possible. It's also harder for it to happen for me when you see many shows close together. That's my personal feeling anyway (was my 5th since summer).
  19. Really don't understand the bad feeling about the venue. It is a truly beautiful place in a great location and the sound is stellar. Wilco are a live act with quite a following and have outgrown smaller venues, the alternative could be one night at the United Center rather than 4 shows at a theater. Then certain people would be pining for the days they played Chicago Theater.
  20. There will always sadly be a minority who talk, text and shout inanities. What I witnessed last night was an exuberant home town crowd who stood, danced, sang along (mostly) in the right places. I have witnessed way worse crowd behaviour, even at Solid Sound to give just one example. It's a fact of life and you just have to shut it out best you can and get into the performance. For me last night that was not an issue.
  21. You protest too much about the theater and the crowd, if you are looking to find problems then you will. Where I was (row JJ, left side) 90% of people were really into the show. Was a truly brilliant one, a big step up in my opinion from night 1. And the audience were better too. Superb.
  22. So what are people expecting from this year's festival? It appears to me that Wilco last played shows in December 5 years ago (also in Chicago). Will there be any seasonal surprises?
  23. For the hell of it I chose a $55 ticket for Seattle, top price available. Total came to $73 Addons $10 Service Fee $4 Facility Charge $4 Order processing charge
  24. I think they just include them in the original price you see. They are always there.
  25. I think it's a bit late to have much of a choice (if any) unless you buy from the secondary ticket market. I would say if you are on a higher row downstairs then anything central is fine. Double letter rows out to the side are not necessarily better than central single letter rows.
