Just listening to "Birthday" by the Beatles. Not sure it exactly fits in this thread, but I do wish they had saved what may be their best riff and one of their best overall rock performances for a slightly less silly song. It's part of the charm of the White Album, but man that song is pretty damned heavy for what it is.

I love the White Album era for managing to take what would be throw away songs for anyone else and turning them into classic. This is no different. I also love how silly they were during this period, and how much of that sneaks into songs. "Desmond lets the children lend a hand (Arm!) (FOOT!)"
