  1. Also, really. Is there even a doubt who the best SS in the NL east is? I'll give you a hint, he's also probably the very best hitter in the whole NL.
  2. I have to say I think the Marlins do a very good job managing the pen. Their best relievers are used when the situation is tightest, and Gregg's job as closer is very stress free, generally.
  3. In most cases, there really isn't a difference, is there? Plus, I don't believe in guilty pleasures. That's a meaningless term to me. Music shouldn't make you feel guilty.
  4. This is a totally sensible first post in a baseball thread, excellent work. I agree with both of these hypotheses.
  5. Yeah, that 4 era as a starter would be getting him about 10 million more than a 3.5 era as a reliever...
  6. He was given 25 starts as a 24 and 25 year old, that wasn't a big enough sample to prove one way or the other. but his ML peripheral stats are pretty much the same as his MiL ones, so I don't see why he couldn't have been a 4 ERA starter. That team has cost him many, many millions of dollars. If I was him, I'd be pissed.
  7. Also, the Boy Least Likely To's debut album describes me far better than I ever could and is a total classic.
  8. The Hold Steady have released 3 classic albums, and have never made a bad song. Craig Finn is probably the best lyricist of this generation, and it's really nice to see a band that isn't too serious to rock.
  9. I think it's too late to put Heilman back in the rotation. That team ruined his career, in my opinion. He should've been starting from day one. I agree with you, but not your reasoning here. You have your best pitchers start if they have the arm strength, and let the bullpen figure itself out.
  10. They wore silly hats, right? I think that's what it was.
  11. As he was when he was a starter.
  12. Ah, ok. That makes sense, though in my defense, it is a painfully vague post. My bad, sorry for stirring the shit. Blaspheme: "War Pigs" is the best hard rock song of all time, doubly so if I've been drinking shitty light beer.
  13. Wait, what? You are like totally dismissing your previous point. Blaspheme: The roots cover of "Masters of War" is better than anything Bob Dylan has done.
  14. I agree with him. Not with his reasoning, but with his point. Joba should be starting.
  15. I fall into the former category, and I am very excited to be seeing them in Miami on June 9 and then at Bonnaroo a few days later.
  16. Me too! And even for a while after I discovered Wilco. Blaspheme: "I know I should get next to you You've got a look that made me think you're cool But it's just sexual attraction Not something real so I'd rather keep wackin'" Is the cleverest verse in rock history. It makes me giggle every single time I hear it without fail. Another blaspheme: Fall Out Boy's last album has like 6 legitimately great songs, and their singer is one of my favorites right now. Also, "Ugly Kids" by Canoe is the 2nd best song of 2008, after "Carolina Drama" by the Raconteurs. Also, "Rosalita (come Out
  17. That's one thing I love about Fredi Gonzalez, and it's the one thing that makes me think the Marlins might continue beating expectations for a while: He's an excellent manager of the pen.
  18. "Like A Bird" is one of the best pop songs of the past decade.
