I fully agree, I'm not writing it off as a medium, I just find very little of what I've read to be moving, unfortunately.

There was a time when Eminem could've been an all time great rap artist, but he got legitimately terrible after his 2nd album. But his first two are brilliant, one of the smartest, funniest rappers of all time. He just got too obsessed with a revolution that never came (by this I mean he thought there would be millions of Eminem clones flooding the market, and he was preparing himself to fight that from his 3rd album on, and it never came. He fizzled out after this.)

It's a fucking stupid thing to say. It implies that all racists are Republicans, which is a very stupid thing to say. He's not saying racists won't vote for Obama, he's saying all racists are McCain supporters. I'm not offended by it, per se, but I'm surprised that he would be so stupid as to say that. It's not an issue to me, but if I were Obama, I would be trying very hard to distance myself from those comments. Of course, Obama's camp probably doesn't have a problem with those who vote based on his race as long as they are voting for him.

This was a stupid post. No. I did not mention my book reading habits in that post, that post was regarding my feelings towards literature of the poetic variety. I'm not sure where you got that from, since books didn't come up, but I'm sure you have a reason. I have a respect for poets and for poetry, as I cannot write a poem for shit, but I don't have too much more than that. As a medium of expression, I find it lacking. When there is music involved, it makes a whole lot more sense to me.

I would argue Lupe Fiasco has made some lyrics that are very close to poetry, though naturally I don't know anything about poetry because I think it's mostly boring unless there is music behind it.

Lil Wayne is one of the most fascinating characters in hip hop, to say the least. And probably the most prolific. It's not all good, but he's made some really good stuff, and he's always interesting.
