  1. Ugh. I'd rather he stay hands off. The reason he is awful is because how hands on he has been.
  2. they sold really low on swisher. They gave up way more last offseason than they got this offseason, and he's due to bounceback.
  3. Does Kenny Williams have a plan with his team, or does he kind of just go by the seat of his pants?
  4. Ok, an average defensive center fielder is pretty valuable, given everything else he can do, isn't it?
  5. How does it feel to be so wrong about something?
  6. I'm kind of with the Maker here, unfortunately. 300 was really, really bad, and this one doesn't look any better.
  7. I think the movie's going to be dissapointing no matter what. I still need to read this though. Just need to find it, neither Barnes and Noble by my house has it.
  8. Yes. A 28 year old who has legit 30 HR power, can play all 3 outfield positions adequately and walks 100 times a year? He's not a .219 hitter, his BABIP was extremely low last year. He'll be alright, and the Yankees didn't give anything up. They might've gotten the two best players in the trade.
  9. Jhonny Nunez also going to the Sox. He looks like a decent prospect, but I still think the Yankees got by far the better end of this deal.
  10. Still a bad deal. Still, I guess since the Marlins gave up Willingham and Olsen and only got 1 good prospect out of the whole deal (Jake Smolinski, who I like a lot) and basically got another Alfredo Amezaga, I can't criticize. Though they have made 2 other very good trades this offseason, and all fo the players they gave up were expendable.
  11. Wow, Kenny Williams is a terrible GM. Threw in 22 year old Minor league reliever Kanekoa Texeira. Unless the Yankees eventually end up giving more than Marquez and his 1.51 career MiLB era, Williams just got fucked real hard. Essentially traded Gio Gonzalez and Ryan Sweeney for Marquez.
  12. The Marlins have a glut of young power arms between AAA and the majors. It's going to be fun to watch Fredi trot out 95+ guy after 95+ guy at the end of a game.
  13. Yankees pick up Nick Swisher for 24 year old minor league starting pitcher Jeff Marquez. If that's all the Yankees gave up, I like the deal quite a bit for them. Swisher's hitting his prime, is a plus defender no matter where he is on the field, and Marquez looks like nothing.
  14. Then why pick up a mediocre reliever who can't throw strikes and give up a 21 y/o flamethrower out of the pen?
  15. His home/road splits are usually anywhere between .100 and .300 points of OPS. Thats a whole lot. He looks like an elite hitter in Colorado and a merely good one elsewhere. Same with Peavy: Looks like Elite at home, just good everywhere else. Is it worth the players they are giving up? And the Marlins rob the Cubs in the Gregg deal. Ceda sounds legit.
  16. Well, if you'd like to see what happened, click on the video link on the right of this page: http://fiusm.com/
  17. Anyone else find it weird that both of the big names being talked in trades (Holliday, Peavy) are both pretty much entirely a product of the parks they play in? Holliday is an .800 OPS hitter away from Coors, and Peavy has a 3.8 ERA away from Petco. I can garauntee the teams that get each of them will "underperform" expectations next year because of both of them.
  18. prior had a violent arm motion. Lincecum looks funky, but he puts less stress on his arm because of his huge stride.
  19. The Red Sox draft well because they have a tendency to draft college players over high school players.
  20. I thought we already decided that it was ok for someone to vote for Barack solely because of his skin color?
  21. Yeah. Many Marlins fans are pissed. I'm not.
  22. Well, I mean yeah. But that doesn't really have anything to do with it. Mickey Mantle probably deserved 11 or 12 MVP awards, and the press loved him. They just found a new reason every year to not give it to him. The all time greats are generally the best player in their league more often than not.
  23. Yeah, Bonds was awesome as always. In reality, Bonds probably deserved 11 or 12 MVP awards in his career.
