  1. i was into them early. i'm sort of glad they decided to move on. obviously very different people involved personality wise. they left on a pretty high note. that's not to say i wouldn't enjoy some sort of reunion but i don't think its going to happen.

  2. I've heard the new record & its real good. There's also a tape out there of from the Belly Up in Aspen in August thats awesome. Lots of the new record & covers of "The Bitch is Back" & "Sign O the Times". "Sign O the Times" has a very different & cool arrangement.

  3. What did you think of the Sugaree cover, or was that over your head?

quite possibly my least favorite song in the world. at 1 point i hired a former friend to work in my warehouse & i had to listen to the fred every single day for 2 years. sugaree at this point brings on a psychotic reaction, so its best just to not go there. i have plenty of music that i like that i can listen to. no offense, its 1 of my little quirks. i did make an attempt a few decades ago to listen. it never really took & after the audio battery it went to another place.

  4. i saw tedeschi trucks this week in seattle. it was a phenomenal show. i had seen them separately but not together. derek was stellar on guitar but to me susan outshined him. what a voice! & no slouch on guitar either. 1 minor quibble: my friend & i both thought that maybe they should highlight songs a little more & do a little less jamming. the jamming was good but was in danger of going into icky hateful fred territory at times. its a 12 piece band & everyone had longish solos. it wasn't bad but i just fell in luv with susan's singing. the show here was in a real nice venue, where they have the opera & ballet. great sound. i saw some peeps taping & am waiting for the show to pop up. nikki bluhm & the gramblers opened. not a bad band. their lead guitar player was quite good, too. definitely the star of the set. all in all a really nice evening.

  5. I love fall and Sunday Fundays. My lowly Lions will be mediocre yet again, and I'm not in their broadcast area, but I get huge kicks from watching my wife cuss out Cutler. Though today she's opting for the serenity of a yoga class at noon rather than the aggravation of watching Da Bears.

    ahhhh, Cutler. heh heh heh

  6. It is a high holy day for me. The start of the Seattle Seahawks season. I'm going to the game & am getting psyched! I have a complicated set of constantly evolving pregame rituals that I have started. Included are clothing, blueberries, incense & "Jumping Jack Flash", to name a few. It has worked out pretty damn well so far. I feel really good about the Hawks chances to get another Super Bowl win this year. There is a really strong & good vibe around the team this year. With the exception of an early bye week the schedule this year is looking very favorable. I think the Hawks are going to have 12-14 wins in the regular season, win the NFC West (close battle with Arizona) & have home field through the playoffs. There are 3 tough road games (NE, GB & Arizona) but I think my boys will take 1 of those. Barring major injury, this could be a season to remember. It is looking like a perfect football day here. 65 & mostly sunny. We're taking a water taxi across the bay early & there will be a huge party going on in the area around the stadium. It's looking like an awesome day all around! Prediction: Seahawks 27 Dolphins 10. GO HAWKS!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!  :rock

PS: would luv to banter here with other NFL fans all season!

  7. I've said it before and I'll say it again, cell phones filming needs to be banned from shows. If security sees it, they should confiscate their phones. Taking a quick picture is ok...as long as it's not every 2 mins, but holding your phone in place for an entire concert is beyond disrespectful. There should be a loud speaker warning before every show , like at the movies.

Apple has tech coming that will jam phones from recording shows. I'm there will be a fee involved for the bands as Apple isn't really know for their altruistic nature.

  8. Do tell.

quite a surprise with the stripped down approach going on. think that it was at that point where glenn got seriously engaged. him & jeff did a jam during spiders that was amazing! i'd like to hear them try art of almost with this setup. i read that they're hesitant to do wilco the album stuff because if they do a roadcase, they have to pay warners as the rights haven't reverted back yet. not sure when that ends. i would've loved to hear one wing at these shows but not complaining. we got quite the variety over the 2 shows.

  9. I thought the show was close to as good as Friday but there definitely was a weird energy after the incident. People were freaked out as there was no info. Paris was on people's minds. I was on the opposite site & someone said sniper. There were enough differences in the setlist to make me feel good about going to both. I got 2 out of 3 wishes on the setlist (Radio Cure, Ashes). She's a Jar made up for loneliness nicely! The semi acoustic Bull Black Nova was interesting for sure. & Nothinsevergoing... was outstanding. Always good to hear Laminated Cat. I thought Impossible Germany was better the 1st night & Spiders the second. I was in a position to watch Glenn closely & he was definitely on last night. The 2nd encore was nice. I always like to hear Just That Simple & True Love was a very nice surprise with the Bill Frissell guitar. I would give Friday the edge for me personally though. I'm tired today & going to recharge. Next up Ray LaMontagne with MMJ Monday night. Has been a fine music weekend so far! Also, got tshirts last night for me & my belle. The poster for the shows was definitely cool for Seattle fans. I don't usually buy those as they are on pricey side but this was kind of a Seahawks theme. Must have here, haha!

  10. It wasn't that bad, for the most part it was great, I'm sitting lower tonight which should hopefully be better!

You know, I have to say for having marijuana legal here, I haven't seen it or even smelt it once since arriving yesterday AM.

Is it usual for the band's photographer to take a picture of the crowd at the end of the show?

I've seen the photographer do that before. I'm not sure about the differences between the pot laws in different states. I'm told that in Denver, it is everywhere. Legally in Washington you can't smoke in public. I'm pretty sure in Seattle that's not really getting enforced too much. Outside the city could be a different story. I'll be sitting row A main floor right section on aisle 2. I'll be wearing a bright green hat. Stop by & say hi if you have a mind to. I've got a cane & will be flying solo tonight.

  11. Yeah I was really impressed with the background of the set, it would change colours between songs, some songs even had clouds that would move at different speeds!

My first Seattle (and US concert!). The crowd did a really good job singing along for A Shot in the Arm, but from at least where I was sitting (lower balcony) it was the worst crowd I've been in. People in front of us were talking the whole time, someone behind us took photos with their flash on throughout the entire concert which is just rude, and someone threw up not too far from us. Kudos to the staff though, they were super quick about cleaning it up.

Joan Shelley was pretty good and her guitarist was very good.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the crowd. I was down in the front on the main floor & it was fine down there. I've seen the band countless times & this show would rank among the best. Last summer was mighty here with a very Nels-centric show but he was just as fantastic last night. Jeff was very engaged & funny. We sat right in front of him, leaning towards Nels. When he leaned out over the crowd during shot he he was 5-10 feet from us. One humourous note: it appeared (especially at the start of the show) that Pat & Glenn had perhaps visited a local "green" store. It didn't affect their playing but they definitely had the look, haha. Maybe over-indulged a wee bit. Easy to do & legal!

  12. just woke up. still stunned. reservations into impossible germany was the shet. & i didn't think we would get spiders. all i can say is wow! my friend was amazed. she had never seen the band & said it might be the best show we've gone to. high praise as we've seen some awesome stuff. i'm going solo tonight. she wishes she were going but had a commitment with her daughter. the audience sang along with shot in the arm beautifully. worthy of chicago. i was close enough to tell that the band was impressed. can't wait to see what's in store tonight. i rarely do multi night stands but this one is definitely worthy!

  13. Can't wait for tonight!!!!! Looks like a really good tour to hit the lottery on the presale & score row A. I'm still reeling! Reservations is probably my favorite Wilco song ever & I've never seen them play it.& I've seen many shows. Think I'm certain to get it today and/or tomorrow. Going solo to the 2nd show & got lucky on that one, too. A week after the shows went on sale I went in & put in for 1 ADA ticket (sadly I qualify) just for giggles. Row A came up again! Tonight is with my friend though & she has never seen them. I turned her onto the band & she is a fan now. Looking to be a monumental music weekend. The 2 Wilco shows, a day to recharge & then Ray LaMontagne with MMJ on Monday night. It doesn't get a whole lot better, IMHO. :)
