  1. I could not resist the joking shout out for more base after another two bass locator. I thought Jeff might have used two guitars that i did not notice (maybe just me) in Madison or Minneapolis. Thinking maybe ones he does not like to risk the road travel? Yes, muy caliente to get What Light. For now static setlist but playing really well. I also liked Jeff mid guitar strum adding a few claps for Pat's banjo solo as the crowd noted Pat's playing.

Are they possibly headed to "Jazz Odyssey" with the multiple bass parts? :D

  2. It was a tremendous concert. Kudos to CBC for showing sans commercials or editting. The whole thing was tremendously classy & I hope it gave Gordie a little peace & happiness. There's a clip on youtube of Pearl Jam the same night in Chicago dedicating a song to the Hip. Eddie gives a nice little speech about them. Pity they didn't get a lot of attention from the US music press. They had a lot of fine music. Them & 54/40 were 2 great Canadian bands that should've been bigger. I'm lucky living in Seattle, we get a fair amount of Canadian music.

  3. :thumbup

Tons of great b-sides... A Few Hours After This, Mr. Pink Eyes, Happy the Man, Throw Your Foot, New Day, Exploding Boy, Man Inside My Mouth, Chain of Flowers, This Twilight Garden... the list goes on and on...

    What about the Jam?

"A" Bomb in Wardour Street, Smithers-Jones, Butterfly Collector, See-Saw, Liza Radley, Dreams of Children, Tales from the Riverbank, etc.

Ya, the Jam (& Paul Weller stuff) have had plenty of good b-sides. REM had plenty, also. & let's not forget Wilco!!!!

  4. I saw RM several times on that tour. What venue ?

The old PNE  arena in Vancouver, BC. I remember being shocked that we couldn't score beer at 7-11 on the way to the show. At that time there was no point to 7-11 without beer! Younger, wilder days... :D

  5. Some stuff is getting lost about TOTD. I was in the music biz in Seattle during those years (25 years while there still was a music biz) & was witness to a lot. When TOTD was recorded, Pearl Jam didn't even exist as such. Eddie had just moved up from San Diego & it was Mookie Blaylock. Soundgarden had put out indie records & Louder Than Love on A & M. They put out TOTD & did absolutely nothing to promote it. Fast forward about a year (give or take) PJ 10 & Soundgarden Badmotorfinger are out & the whole scene is exploding. A friend of mine worked as a local radio rep for A & M & after much badgering, got the label to invest more in the record. The rest is history. Eddie Vedder only sang Hunger Strike & a backup vocals on a few others. He wasn't really in the band such as it was. That being said, I'm pretty sure he'll appear at least at some of the shows. I wouldn't be surprised if he did all of them. With one record, kind of skimpy for headlining MSG or the Forum. What I see happening most likely is Eddie will do the Mother Love Bone songs that he does with PJ, along with Hunger Strike, etc. I also wouldn't be surprised if they add a night or 2 in Seattle. The Paramount is only 2800 seats. The demand is absolutely insane. I got in on the presale & got good seats in the balcony. They were spendy, even getting them on presale. $230 for a pair. Just for giggles, I checked some ticketbroker sites. Asking price for seats similar to mine is $800 to $1000 each right now. The main floor is even higher. I'm going but wow!

  6. I scored tickets for the Seattle show on Wednesday. You know, Pearl Jam haven't played here for the 25th anniversary. I'm pretty sure Eddie will be at the show here. He shows up at shows all of the time. I have actually seen PJ once without Eddie when they backed Neil Young at the Reading Festival. Needless to say that was pretty good. BTW: This TOTD tour totally caught me by surprise. A very good surprise, indeed!

  7. Impossible Germany has a nice summer vibe during the guitar meltdown. Kind of a retro feel with the 3 guitars trading licks until the inevitable bowing to Nels. :)

  8. They played Seattle soon after Star Wars dropped last summer & did the whole thing to start the show. I'm thinking & hoping they have a new one ready before the west coast dates. They seem to be in smaller venues. Maybe a quieter record coming?

  9. & a tour in small venues! September is shaping up nicely in Seattle with 2 Wilco shows, DBT & Ray LaMontagne with My Morning Jacket. I could be (more of) a babbling idiot by October!  :banana

Got my tickets for Seattle. Tiny venue & only $25!

  10. I checked out this site and found it to be very easy to get around. I didn't see too much audio, but there was a ton of YouTube clips. Can I post 50 words to get access quickly?

Thanks! I can't believe that I went to NYC in 2003 for 2 Pearl Jam MSG shows & took the really late bus back home. I'd never do that now. I can't be bothered. Boston didn't get any songs from Pornography. I was bummed.

And LA & NYC were treated to very different shows. I wonder if NYCTaper was at any of the shows?

I REALLY wanted All I Want. Cheers on Last Dance, Dressing Up and This Twilight Garden. I'm not a big fan of The Hungry Ghost. I'm surprised that they didn't do Exploding Boy & 2 Late in NYC.

I multi quoted your quote about the 2011 show that you went to, but I don't see it. I'm hoping that that gets released at some point. Any leads on audio from that? Thanks!

You have to do 50 posts to get access to the tapes. There are some gems in there. It goes by quick! :thumbup

PS: it wasn't me that went in 2011. This year was the first time I've seen the Cure. I had a run of bad luck regarding them until this year. Now I want more! I've been listening to a lot of catalog & there is so much good stuff. I've bought all of the 2 disc reissues except for 3 Imaginary Boys & that one is coming soon. Rhino did a good job on the packages. Glad you had a good time. I hope the band will be back soon with a new album!

  11. I can't believe that they did Bananafishbones last night. I wasn't there, but I was watching Periscope. I'll keep my eyes out for any more torrents from this tour. Another option would be to convert the YouTube vids to MP3.

Check the link below. No offense to anyone here but it's my fave fansite. Incredibly nice people from all over the world. Lots of vids from the tour. I've made friends in Europe from the site, not to mention other areas of the US. & the hardcore people on it maintain a sense of humour & equilibrium about the whole thing.
