Stranded On A Desert Island With 5 Celebrities...
Sir Stewart replied to u2roolz's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Yes. Calexico: Cherry Jones is one of my all-time favorite actresses, but on a stranded island she might end up strangled as I imagine she never really shuts the hell up. -

I was worried it might've seemed like I was mockin' you up there. But I was genuinely pissed off. Your post just reminded me of those ads. -

You mean "super-annoyings"? -
The audio from today's Tom Ashbrook conversation with author Jonathan Safran Foer about his new non-fiction book Eating Animals will be up here soon. Great talk about facing head-on the reality of meat production/consumption as a meat eater. I want to read the book. Haven't seen Food Inc yet. Not looking forward to it.

Choose gapless and you should be fine. I don't even understand why iTunes has the option.
-
Well gapless should retain the flow of the record, regardless. Right? Are you saying that, say, when you choose gapless, Fixing A Hole begins earlier than it should after Getting Better?

I don't even remember what got me here but I just read this whole thread again. Good stuff. -
So weird. There was a while when Vimeo first became popular when I could play them fine, now it's just stop start stop start, including audio. Maybe I'll try in Safari.

I was reading some (really) old emails recently and a quote from Howard Stern came up, from around the time of one of M. Chapman's parole hearings. Robin had said that Yoko Ono refused to discuss the man at all, of course. To which Stern said: "Stupid Chapman. Killed the one guy who'd have probably listened to him." I can dig that a lot.

Anyone else have serious issues with Vimeo videos? They are always jumpy for me. I can't even listen to this.

Your favorite 80's American "college rock" band
Sir Stewart replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
For Licensed To Ill? Was that a big college album? I was young, but I think of that as a bigger high school phenom than with college kids. -
I know what you mean Matt. I guess I just think of the worst of Lennon's social tendencies when I hear it: the insolent, little snot Lennon.

I lived a block away, same side of the street, in the mid-nineties. A full-on Aerosmith logo was carved into the wood of the front doorway. I imagine it was a fan's doing, but I still like to pretend it had been there since ..what, '72 was it?

I tried at the start, but I can't bear two seconds of Community. Every face I see repels me, particularly the male & female leads. I miss Earl.

It has a good little Dylanesque groove going on, but the lyrics are just reprehensible. I don't really have a problem with, say, Elvis singing "rather see you dead little girl than to be with another man" in "Baby Let's Play House" cuz it's kind of a throwaway line, but in "Run For Your Life" there's no escape from the vitriol. It's disgusting.
-
I used to quote the airplane scene from that: "She's just a bird." In this or the previous thread I said some stuff about Rubber Soul that might make it seem like I don't like it. That's not the case at all. When I call 'Michelle' or 'Run For Your Life' "stupid" it doesn't mean I don't love them. These are the things that keep me up at night.

Campbell Scott is great. You ever see Spring Forward, u2? He only has a supporting role in it, but for some reason it's first movie I think of when I see his name. Really good little story.
-
Last night was not a great episode. crypt, if this was the first new one since your official abandonment of the show, you chose wisely. But more importantly, is Dunder-Mifflin closing down? And - has anyone else felt a steep decline in the quality of 30 Rock this season?
