  1. To be clear - it's the worst avatar in the history of history. Fucking new page.
  2. Hixter's grasp of this subject is in direct contrast to the attractiveness of his avatar.
  3. I totally feel the same way about Tempest. TTL and MT are so inconsequential that I had no expectations at all for Tempest, but it is great.
  4. Like thinking he's a historical writer. Yikes.
  5. Bob Seger is the poor man's half-eaten cheeseburger dug out from the bottom of a Hardee's dumpster.
  6. The safe story itself was fake? I thought just the Magic cards part was.
  7. I don't hear the same Summerteeth that Ghost of Electricity does, thankfully. To me, it's worlds away from the type of compressed mixes (the loudness war stuff that anthony refers to) I hear all too often lately.
  8. And, for the first time since one week in the late 80s, people are talking about Michelle Shocked.
  9. How would you even call his family?
  10. Stephen King Paul Auster Tom Perrotta
  11. I recently watched Bill on Conan O'Brien pushing The Man Who Knew Too Little. It's a typically great appearance, but what really stood out is at clip time, Conan asks if he wants to set it up for the audience, and Bill goes into a 50 second-long recap of the whole movie leading up to the scene about to be shown. And it didn't even come across as a bit. Totally awesome.
  12. I'd love to see this exhibition. I have a copy (don't know if it's an original) that has drawings of dragons and shit all over it. I bet he'd like that.
  13. Nah, there've always been people who don't like them and that's totally understandable. But they've captured the hategeist in a big way the past few years. I guess it's not much of a mystery the more I think about it; recently they've been in the public consciousness for things like Steven falling offstage, subsequent infighting, poor (new) music, and American Idol rather than for being a still-chugging-along old rock band a la the Stones or the Allmans.
  14. No, that's way too early. Maybe that's when it became cool for you, but the hate train has been gathering an Eagles-esque amount of steam in the past couple of years.
  15. When did it become cool to hate Aerosmith? Before Steven went on American Idol?
  16. Sure, I'm aware of the monumental changes (personnel, sonically, thematically) Wilco has gone through over the years. Still, "two completely different bands" is not an accurate description of a band whose founding member is and has always been its heart and soul. And it's not just semantics: the argument was that one cannot compare Jay to Nels as members of Wilco. Sure you can.
  17. Two completely different bands?
  18. I always side with Jay in that scene. I realize he was grating on Tweedy's last nerve by that time, but the guy was making a good point, and he was 100% enveloped in the process.
  19. The Rain Song isn't even in the top ten. Unconscionable.
  20. The joke is that you are cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs when it comes to Jeff Tweedy and his son Spencer.
  21. He bombed because on that radio show he was inexplicably the polar opposite of everything you know and love about Dave. He seemed uncomfortable, unsure of himself and regularly let callers take over the show. It was a disaster.
