I didn't keep a comprehensive set list but in addition to the previous posts, the surprises(for me) were: New Madrid It's just that simple and hoodoo voodoo to close the set.

Anyone (Solace maybe?) ever been to a show at Midway Stadium? Where is the stage set up. I was thinking that lawn seats (on the field) would be the best bet to try to get close, but from the way others are talking, that isn't the case. They aren't behind the stage or anything, are they?

"Jeff Tweedy" reviews U2's Achtung Baby

All time favorite UT moment. Of course, that was before Achtung changed Jeff's life. -
I requested Fergilicous but alas, 'twas not to be.

I've seen them 8 times and last night was probably the best musically - Duluth in the rain was special, but probably not as crisp. Jeff was in great spirits. A guy right in front of me, in the front row, seemed to be on something and was grabbing his crotch like crazy. Jeff asked him if he needed to go to the bathroom because he had "never seen anyone grab their penis so often at a wilco show." He said that when his kids do that they usually have to go to the bathroom. Then a couple of friends of the crotch grabber started to getting a little touch happy and Jeff told them that they shoul

I do not work for TM or a venue although I do have some experience with them. All I am saying is that when a band plays at 1st Ave and there is no building charge, that doesn't mean that first ave is letting them play for free. The charge for the building is already built into the ticket... so my point is how is it OK to build the price into the ticket then charge a facility charge?
-
I understand the convenience argument by ticketmaster - they would say if you don't like it, go to the venue and buy the tickets. But if anyone here has ever gone to a venue to get tickets, the odds of actually getting a good seat while some 16 year old kid behind the counter tries to figure out how to bring up the right event and process the transaction is zero. Pearl Jam definitely had it right in 1996... its just too bad no other big band took the crusade to the next level. And re: the building fee... I just don't understand that. Isn't the band already paying for the building when t

Great idea. Heres one:oops

The reason that people expect Ryan to do interesting, different shows is because he used to do them. He used to actually act like he wanted to be there, talking to the audience, smiling, playing a varied setlist. The last 3 times I've seen him he has acted like he couldn't stand the crowed or having to play. That isn't fun for anyone... especially when you spend $50 on him.

Can we get some elaboration on the title? Sounds like the beginnings of some classic banter.

I think Glenn is sporting the Rhett Miller look these days. Open shirt, long sweaty hair. Great show, not quite up to Duluth standards but closer than I expected them to get. BTW, so glad people finally stood during IATTBYH. There was no energy in the room prior to that point. And plus, "Its a fucking rock show."

Everything?

I think tonights show will be awesome on account of him realizing he was an ass last night. I am envious of all of you that are going and hope like hell that your experience is better than last night. Solace, you are right on on all counts (as usual). I did see the 3.5hr first ave show and it was one of the best ever. I also saw the one later that year at orpheum which was shorter but almost equally incredible. And that was by far the best band - generation of Ryan Adams. Also, back then, I don't remember quite as many Frat Boys and Screemy girls in the audience but that could just be

I'm sorry, I know that it is tough to play without monitors but a 65 minute set for a $50 ticket isn't right. Especially that set. It never had any flow and definitely didn't feel like Kiss Before You Go was the last song. I have seen plenty of great 1 hr shows and plenty of really good shows in spite of technical problems (Ryan's infamous first ave show was almost one of them) and this was neither. He could have been a professional about it and came out and played 3 or 4 songs without the band eliminating the technical problems. I probably still wouldn't be satisfied but at least I would

I don't mean to rain on your parade, because that's a great story but did anyone see him at the State in MPLS last night? I have seen Ryan 6 times and this was by far the worst. 1hr 5mins (no encore), Ryan was completely pissy all night and the music was sub par at best (although that was partly due to the sound). I really hoped that after he stopped drinking his shows would become more consistent. Clearly I was wrong. I won't go too deeply into ripping Ryan but as his ticket prices increase and performance qualities continue to be ever-erratic, its going to be hard to give him anymore of

I agree 100% Solace. The best of the 6 Wilco shows I've seen. The fog and cold made it a bit reminiscent of Pearl Jam at alpine (2002 maybe). I am trying to put together a little play by play but haven't got the time yet. But if anyone has pics, I would looooove to see them. Thanks.
-
So, Solace, you're implying that they may schedule a show for 5/12 or 5/13... Or are you thinking some sort of unscheduled thing? I mean, thats only a week away so it seems like it'd be hard to announce a show and sell tix in that ammount of time. Also, I'm assuming that they will only play one or two songs on PHC, right?

Wow, I watched the BES set pretty closely and just didn't put 2 and 2 together that it was nills. Should have known better though. Any insight on jeffs leg? I don't mean to beat it to death but it seemed to bother him a lot and no one has really mentioned it.

I thought that jeff was severly bothered by his leg. What happened to it? He looked like he was in pain and a little distracted. Of course being that he cant use pain killers.... Still a great show. I could have used more witty banter.
