This is probably my favorite picture of the pre-show party.
And that is definetly the best picture I took.
And here's all the ones flickr let me upload.I've got some more to come.
bobbob, those pictures kick ass
.....what a phenomenal shot of Jeff! Alissa loved it because you could see Jeff's bracelet so well in it.

Hey Erin, on a side note . . . I think that Sue may have forgotten them and left them on your bar downstairs. You may want to check. I didn't want them to get misplaced.
Don't worry, those were a few extras....we made more than we actually needed. Erin & Kristen, have at them!

Hi everybody, I'm home safe and sound after a very long day (yesterday) of airplane games.....we got to play "fire drill" in Dallas! After we were all settled on the plane, ready for takeoff, a piercing, shrill tone began to sound & grew until I finally put my book down and stuffed balls of tissue into my ears, which didn't help much. After a good 15 minutes of this, the captain explained that a small hydraulic fluid leak had been found at the nose of the plane, and they needed to test the system to figure out what was up. He guessed it was just a valve that needed tightening...something minor. So then we got more of the piercing whine for a long stretch, then silence for another long time. At least we all got juice, that was nice of them. But ultimately, maintenance ruled that our plane needed to be taken out of servive, so we all got to re-gather our belongings and troop over to another plane at another gate & "Take your same seats, please!" The deja vu jokes were flying, even if we weren't.
Finally got into Ontario (CA) about 12:30, dead on my feet, and my poor baby girl Alissa was not only exhausted but burning up with a fever that had just started that day, over 102.
So we've spent today pretty much in collapse mode.
There aren't enough words to say enough thank you's to everyone involved in what was a magical & nearly surreal weekend for me. For now, I'll just say that I've got some precious, precious pictures.....one of Jeff & M.Chris that I adore, another of Chandler that is too cute for words, and plenty of everything else, some good and some awful.....you'll see them. Everyone who had anything to do with this weekend and the joy it brought me, I love you and thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you think I might mean you, well, of course I do! Now take whatever love & gratitude you imagine that I feel, and multiply it by about 100x over, and now you're close to my actual sentiments. I feel so immensely blessed to be able to travel in the company of some of the world's finest people.
I was so happy after our adventures that I was cheerful throughout all the plane-switching lunacy! Other passengers were cheering up just feeding off my silly cracks and happy glow (either that or maybe I was annoying the hell out of them
), and I know they appreciated when I suggested to the flight crew that "free drinks for everybody!" were in order
....
.....even if they never did follow through.....
......Somebody is still giddy, can you tell?
Now I'm going to go watch "Home Alone" with my sick little girl, just to see a bit more of Winnetka!

We miss you, Dunja!
What he said.

Sometimes repetition helps.....here's that Via Chicago rule again for those of you who weren't paying attention:
Please Do Not Post Links To Commercial ReleasesIt's become a pretty big problem as of late, and it's only a matter of time before a record label catches wind of it and puts the hammer down on this site and it's admins. We dont' allow it for Wilco, so it's unfair to allow it for other bands.
So from now on, anyone who posts a link to a full commercial studio record will be given one warning, and after that, they will be suspended from this site.
If you want to send someone a PM or email about where to find it? Fine, but no direct links, as it's gotten out of hand the last few months, and something needed to be done.
If you want to post links to individual songs from mp3 blogs, legit sites, etc., that's not a problem.
Thanks
Pretty straightforward if you ask me.

This thread just radiates happiness. So glad for you all and the marvelous memories you made, and thank you for sharing them. Judy, your baby is lovelier every time I see her.

soooo... again... anyone know?
Sorry.....clueless.
-
one boob higher than the other?
Like I said, men's work to determine such things...
-
Or it could be code for "crooked rack".
(I wouldn't know, having never examined closely....that's men's work)
-
does anyone have monkey mess? i've never seen an mp3 of it.
Monkey Mess is on the Wiggleworm Dads shows
That sounds fantastic! The best I got is the time Dan Zanes came and played at the childcare center my kids go to. Which was cool b/c he's like a rockstar to 5 yr olds, but (sorry, Dan) I would have preferred Tweedy and Langford.napoleon & quarter23cd, drop me a pm and I'll get you copies of Wiggleworm Dads.
All I ask is that you share them along to another VC'er or two.

Those are such fun shows! A friend of mine was lucky enough to have attended & described little kids.....toddlers.....running around, parents chasing.....
....while the music played on...it sounded like a bit of happy chaos!

Someone owes me some printer ink!
In the mail. Watch for the leaky package.

Yeah, I think that's correct. It's also listed on WilcoBase as '99.Doh! So now I have to change my whole life!
Oops, I got myself all confused there....I thought I was agreeing with you, Aman, but I got it backwards. Shoot, this means my cover art is inaccurate.
There is, in fact, no Wilco or Jeff Tweedy show on 10-19-1998.
Everybody hold off on using that cover art until I get it corrected.
I'll get that fixed tonight. Worlds collide when cover art is inaccurate, you know. I'm probably messing with the Space-Time continuum.

Much love to a ray of sunshine from the great state of Kansas.....all hail the Fluffy Cloudy one!
Somebody deserves cake.
Chocolate Cloud Cake, to be specific.
We love you, Melissa, even if you did call us odd.
I guess we can't fault you for accuracy.
Cheers!
Have a great day & a great year!
-
That how I got it and that is how it is marked on the cover art.
Yeah, I think that's correct. It's also listed on WilcoBase as '99.

C'mon, let it go or at least take it off the forums. We don't need namecalling or personal attacks over something this inane.

I don't see any harm in bikedewd having asked, at the one-week mark, whether the show had emerged.....we've all had our impatient moments with shows we loved and wanted to re-hear. I appreciate that he did wait before asking.
No need for anybody to get antagonistic here.....live & let live, and let's try to remember that it's hard to judge anyone's tone from smilies and the printed word. One of the critical flaws of communicating as an internet community.
I think we can all agree that we hope a recording turns up soon. Now, can't we all just get along?
-
Since I'm new should this lead me to believe that no one taped this show?
Thanks
It's early yet, so I wouldn't assume that. It may just take awhile to emerge.....sometimes there are problems the taper needs to correct, and sometimes the tapers just get busy with their lives. I'm hoping along with you.

coming right up.
Thank you for your time & effort, High Fives. Generous of you!

I'll get it put up at WilcoBase. Turns out it only needs a tiny bit of work.

rbally.net used to have "I Wanna Be Sedated" from Being There Tour, but it is has ended for the second tiime now. But I heard it once and it was really sweet especially when Tweedy yelled "Ha" at the fan of the song.
I'd have to listen again, don't remember Tweedy's "Ha".....been awhile since I've heard this collection....but "I Wanna Be Sedated" is on Someone Else's Songs & it's great.

Here are just a couple of shots for now....
Chandler with pre-show glow!
As Jesus Etc. began, with the room utterly hushed
Gotta love this wry expression!
Post-show goofiness...Jeff had just caught Chris putting rabbit ears behind his head for a photo. I love the blur of action here, because it captures the moment as it felt.
Someone else shot this with my camera (Kyle?) as I used Chris' camera. (That's me taking the photo, in the shot.)
