  1. Great pictures Donna, I like this one, looks like he is waving right at ya ;)

    PS...

Don't know how to insert the pic so I got the link to work...

(kidsmoke edit: Here Bonnie, I did it for you....you right-click on the pic and copy the properties up through the jpg, then bring it to your post and click the "insert image" little tree there, and paste in the address you've copied)

I love that picture too! I just got lucky on that. It's during Kingpin, and he was exhorting us to scream and get all that out of our systems, for our own good health! :lol

  2. SHHHHHHH ... NEVER admit to taking bad pics.

Only show the good stuff and let people assume you only take really nice photos.

My philosophy: Shoot 100, hope for 10 to turn out.

    :guitar

:lol Yeah, but I'm too honest for my own good.....and besides, ya know what? Sometimes I really like the sheer energy of some of the blurred ones, even though they are imperfect. Like that one where Nels is leaning onto Jeff.....oh wait, it's one of the Wichita photos, not Springfield.....and his body mirrors the curve of the stage curves.....purdy. :thumbup

I did hold back the worst of the bunch though, believe me! :P

But yeah, I agree with your philosophy of taking masses of photos and hoping for even 5 or maybe 10% to come out well.

  3. So anyway, my lovely Via Chicagans (is so a word), here at looong last are my photos from the Springfield, Missouri show on 10-16-06, yet another mind-blowingly amazing performance by our favorite band. :rock

Here, enjoy. Sorry for the blurry ones; my camera struggled with the (moderately) low light.

Hope you like them. What a show! Even the looney drunks that night couldn't take away too much from the incredible & intimate concert.

  4. donna, with that camera you have become a photo-stud!! :worship

thanks everyone for sharing! WHAT A GORGEOUS STAGE!!! looks so intimate.

Thanks Evonne, you flatter me. :cheekkiss But then you didn't see all the really awful blurry shots.... :P

Up in moments, my photos from Springfield, MO. :thumbup

  5. Ahem, this is my first post. I am from Atlanta and was at the Wichita show with my 15 year old daughter Holly. We were on the second row behind Edie and Kidsmoke who extended great courtesy to us. Edie let Holly move to the coveted front row for the first encores, which was a huge deal for Holly. It was even a bigger deal when Jeff held the mike to Holly's mouth for the final refrain of Hummingbird. It was a huge thrill for her. After the show Holly had her pic taken with Jeff, John and Nels. I think I might have been in the running for dad of the year for a moment there. Thanks to all the nice folks we met at the Cotillion (a truly amazing venue) for making it a special time for me and Holly.

As a rookie, I must admit it took me a while to figure out how to register on VC, but I think I finally pulled it off. My next challenge is figuring out how to access the taping of the Wichita show posted above. Do I need to register again under VC bit torrent to access it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Whistle Song!!! (Whose real first name I've forgotten....Sorry!) Welcome to Via Chicago! I loved meeting you and your delightful daughter (Hi Holly! :wave ). It's great to see you here.

Yes, for the bit torrent site you need to sign up separately. If you have any trouble downloading the Cotillion show, just ask. ;)

  6. Here's a little Quicktime slideshow I made from my Wichita photos with audio from that night (thanks to Dave "timewasajoke"), and some timely editing of Jeff's banter.

Thanks -- as always -- to Rob at Wilcobase for hosting.

Fantastic, Clay! And hey look, there I am at the end, taking that picture of Jeff taking that picture of you! Ooooh, it's like when you hold two mirrors up to each other and you can see infinity! :D

  7. I posted this in its own thread, but then thought I ought to put it here also.

Hello all, here are more photos from that amazing Wichita show. Clay, I can't begin to compete with your gorgeous shots, but there are a few among these that I'm very happy with. More importantly, even the blurry shots bring back happy memories of that incredible show.

Kudos to my favorite band for being at the very top of their game. :worship

The second to last shot shows Edie, oceanman, me and Christine, as photographed by Jeff. We are all glowing with post-concert euphoria, can you tell? :w00t

Kael is two. Tonight, I was watching Sunken Treasure when she came running into the room and said, with perfect articulation, "Ah, Jeff. Tweedy."

I looked at my wife, and she just started laughing. We have no idea how she knew that. Osmosis, I guess.

Eric, she is precious. Funny too! :lol
