great call on the getty, alison! tom, what part of town you stay in really depends on whether you want to be on the coast or in town. if you're wanting to be close to the water, then staying on the westside/santa monica is your best bet. therer are some hotels on wilshire blvd that are 15 - 25 blocks from the ocean that would be cheaper than staying at the water. if you're looking for more of a city experience, come east! there are a couple terrific movie theaters: Arclight Cinema Hollywood, Vista Theater, great vegetarian & vegan restaurants: MIllie's (this is my fave spot. a li

woo hoo, lamrod! i won't be there, but wish i could be. i've been to chastain once, but didn't eat in the area. so i really have no good intel for you. i can't wait to see them with Preservation Hall Jazz Band! bring rain gear, just in case. we had a soaked wilco show there in 2007. have a great time!

chris, i look forward to singing out loud to the Lips with you at both of those sets! just booked my hotel package and am very excited. it's been a few years since i've been to b'roo and am ready for a dusty, humid, potentially muddy good time!
