Yeah it's a block print from a carving. Stunning work by j4.

Just wanted to give J4Lackey a public VC shout out for his amazing work with a commissioned piece for my wedding. Music was performed. Booties were shaken. Thanks John!

Wilco has 2 albums in Rolling Stones 100 Greatest of the Decade
redpillbox replied to Muzzle of Dan's topic in Just A Fan
Just a point of clarification: The lists were complied from a vote, taken by (optionally) secret ballot, from artists (Mr. Tweedy among them), industry folks, and writers/critics (Fricke and yes, other Rolling Stone editors included). What is very clear is that the Rolling Stone editors are some big Wilco Fans--see the following: http://www.rollingstone.com/photos/gallery/31219787 -
U2 - 360 Degrees Tour "Cheap Seats"
redpillbox replied to auctioneer69's topic in Someone Else's Song
Speedracer - I can see that we're coming from two different outlooks and I can appreciate that. I don't think we'll find a common ground here. If you are opposed to stadium or arena shows in principle and dismiss them out of hand, there's not going to be much I can say. Not trying to sound sarcastic, but I'm curious if you've ever been to an arena/stadium show before? I am also curious about what you paid for your last Wilco show? Matt - Admittedly, I am a fan. I do think I can step outside of the role though and take an objective look at the situation. And, if I got to boil it down, -

I may be misreading your post, but the show hasn't happened yet, so how would auctioneer know if they did or didn't connect to the audience in the stadium? -
U2 - 360 Degrees Tour "Cheap Seats"
redpillbox replied to auctioneer69's topic in Someone Else's Song
When I said three rotating stages, I meant they have three complete stage set-ups on the road. Three enormous "Claws". One being set-up, one in transit, one for the day of show. I was just trying to illustrate the fact that they've taken on a pretty large financial burden/gamble in putting on such an elaborate show. I think, the argument that they're in it only for the $ is belied by what they've put on the line here. What Auctioneer69 commented on was the bands intentions. My claim isn't what I personally would prefer (arenas, incidentally). I'm only commenting on what I believe THEY -
U2 - 360 Degrees Tour "Cheap Seats"
redpillbox replied to auctioneer69's topic in Someone Else's Song
It's been said here before, but in reality the higher price tickets ($100-225) subsidize all of the best seats which are standing GA/Field seats (i.e. the potential front row seats) and those are the next price up you mentioned, the $57.50 seats. They could actually charge twice that amount, while still keeping the higher ticket prices ($100-225) right where they are. The absolute cheapest tickets are exactly where you'd think they'd be, behind the stage which offers a completely unobstructed view, but you are right, you'd be looking at 3/4 of their backs most of the time (Larry's drum-set r -

Letters To Santa Living Room Show April 5, 2008
redpillbox replied to Wendy's topic in After The Show
Sorry for the reply in this space, but I remember some fantastic poster art from one of the "Letters to Santa..." shows that featured a fountain in the yard where the show was played, a woman pouring water from a pitcher over her head. Did a search on here (I'm thinking it may be archived) and on gigposters.com but didn't see it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Looking to give the artist (someone on here?) some work. Thanks for any help you could give. -Red -
http://pitchfork.com/features/interviews/7723-brian-eno/ I thought this was a really good read. I think this is interesting for all the Bono-haters out there. I've always been able to see why Bono rubs people (myself included on occasion) the wrong way, but thought many of those people missed the deeper point. I think it comes down to whether or not you think he's full of sh$! or not. Either you believe what he says or you think he's trying to sell more records. I think Eno addresses this very well here: "Pitchfork: Even now, U2 do not always get a lot of credit for recognizing when they

"I'm Not Your Baby" Bono & Sinead O'Connor -- perhaps one of the most unknown and under-appreciated U2 songs out there. It's great. (Also echo the "This Mess We're In" love)

FROM THE ROLLING STONE COVER STORY EXTRAS (I got a kick out of this): On Roger Moore and Jay-Z Bono: I had a great one where I was in Monte Carlo sitting in a pizza joint, and some very broad-shouldered in suits with strong American accents came up and explained that Mr. Jay-Z and the lovely Beyoncé were in the grill room, if I wanted to drop by. I may have even recommended the grill room to them. I said it was a kind invitation, but I'm really not dressed for that kind of thing, it's a very posh place. He came back 15 minutes later and said, "Mr. Jay-Z has organized it so that would n

So, I don't know if this is the correct place to post this and I'm sorry if this has already been discussed, but I can't seem to download the 9:30 content. I see the place that says "you'll be able to", but the download is just the DVD content. Did I miss the window or...? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Interesting, recap producer notes on "Lost" in general from Rolling Stone-- avoid clicking if you're not up to the latest episodes: http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/273...steries_of_lost I found this particularly comforting (my biggest fear is that the show ends with a big ass fizzle and I'll wonder why I gave so much time to trying to figure it out): ""We have always known what the very end of this series will be," Lindelof continues. "We are going to present the audience with the empirical answers to these questions

I would say "fustrated" is the one that frustrates me the most. Oh, and "crick" for "creek" and "acrosT" for "across". There is no 'T'.

Every morning I take the cereal down from the top of the fridge and say to myself, "We got to get some Honey Nut up in here, YO!!"

Good call. I got my timelines mixed up. Can you blame me?

Well, Ben and Ethan were part of the Dharma Initiative, as well as Alex. I'm also curious how Ben winds up back with the DI as he clearly has grown up with The Others?

I found it curious that Widmore was aging on the island. Do we know of any "Others" or "Hostiles" that have been shown to age?

Finished "The Killer Angels" and thought it was fantastic. Am now reading "The March" by E.L. Doctorow. Speaking of libraries -- Anyone else have any public library sales they frequent? The Seattle Public library system puts on a bi-annual library book sale in an old airport hanger where they sell the "over-stock" and donations....It's absolutely enormous and hardbacks are $1 and paperbacks $0.75. We are talking quality here as well. It's the greatest thing ever.

Congrats! Looks like you got a nosebleed...I don't think you'll be disappointed. I've seen them quite a few times, have seen them from the front row to the bloodiest, nosebleed seat and can honestly say that the majority of shows that have really stuck with me were the ones I've watched from far above; to be able to see the totality of it all at once, feel the crowd around you and the massive scale, well that's what it's all about. Those are the ones that felt more communal to me, which is what makes a U2 show a U2 show. That being said, however, I scored my GA tickets to Vancouver today.

I don't usually like remixes, but Justice remixed "Boots" and I think there's something to this one: http://stereogum.com/archives/justice-u2-r...mp3_062471.html

Well...if you remember a few episodes ago...Rosseau's companions all went into the temple...one was brought in there by the smoke moster and the other two went in after him and they all came out straight evil, so whatever happens in there can't be that good. So what are we supposed to make of the motivations of the Oceanic survivors now? What's their purpose? They aren't trying to get off the island...Sawyer has "made a life" there and doesn't look like he wants to go anywhere; same with Juliet. Jack has become the new Locke, waiting for the island to tell him what to do. I just don't se

Congrats on all that were able to attend -- sounds like a blast. Was there any chatter about the new album?
