  1. Well, I don't live in Detroit anymore, and I haven't been privy to Tiger-talk much this year (since there really wasn't much there before this year)...but if that's so, I'm totally on board. Although I think Jermaine Dye is probably more deserving of the title. He screws the Tigers more than Crede does. Of course it usually hurts more when Crede does it. Dye is a great player, so it's easier to accept.
  2. Right on. Nice to see Crede be the goat twice in this game. He's fried the Tigers too many times for me to have any sympathy for him. How's A2 right about now, Cryptique? It's move-in week at the dorms, eh? I so completely miss that place and don't miss it all at the same time...
  3. Your White Sox are making quite a game of this. They should have been done 3 innings ago. Wow.
  4. Hmmm...I wonder if that's David Wells's fault too. I'll ask my co-worker on Tuesday. Not to be insensitive to that story. That sucks. Hopefully things turn out well for Lester and his family (and the Sox of course).
  5. Minnesota just aquired Phil Nevin. So you know what that means as far as the wild card race goes... ...absolutely nothing.
  6. One of my co-workers is trying to convince me that now that David Wells is gone, the Red Sox are going to win the World Series. He is certain that Wells was the cause of all of their problems. Right now he's working on a response to my query into how exactly David Wells gave David Ortiz a heart condition. He doesn't have the details worked out just yet, but he insists that Wells is responsible. I'd think he was joking except, well, I know this guy and he's definately not.
  7. Was Wells scratched to make him more attractive trade bait? I guess if he pitched today, it might lower his value a bit since he wouldn't be able to pitch again for another 4 or 5 days.
  8. Or she could have played with her regular backing band instead of the Sadies. I'm just sayin'...
  9. I sort of thought the Reds' trade deadline push was sort of lame. It kind of seemed like they were making trades for the sake of making trades, exemplified by the fact that they sent away one of their brightest young players, Felipe Lopez, in a package deal that brought them a bunch of so-so bullpen help and Royce Clayton, who is barely a Major League baseball player. It sort of seemed like if that was the best move they could make, then maybe they should have just stood pat and tried to make a run with what they had.
  10. I'm not Red Sox fan, but that's some scary shit and I hope it all works out okay. I don't know much about Lester, but it's hard not to love Ortiz, even if you're not a Red Sox fan.
  11. I'm not "finally coming around". I'm looking at what he's actually done and forming an opinion based on that. I still feel very strongly that, over the course of his career, he's been very overrated. And I've never denied that he's an excellent player. He's had a very good career. I've only disputed the pedestal that he is often put on by fans and the media. He's the single most talked about player in the media, hands down, and for the most part the fans give him similar time. He's often talked about as if he's one of the top players in the game, and I think most years he might barel
  12. I'm the official president of the "Jeter is Overrated Club" branch of Chicago, but I must admit that Jeter is having a hell of a year. It's his career year, and he's a good pick for MVP. Personally I think Travis Hafner deserves much stronger consideration than he's getting, but since he's a crummy team I understand him being passed over for Jeter or Dye. Either one of those guys would be excellent MVP picks this year.
  13. You know what's hilarious? Fat people.
  14. Joe Morgan is indeed a doof. Bobbob, you ever read this site?
  15. You're right, because in the playoffs its all about starting pitching, and everyone knows that the Yankees' pitching just dominates the Tigers. Also, whatever, dude.
  16. Who cares? Honestly, so long as the White Sox and Twins don't catch the Tigers, it's completely meaningless how their recodr compares to teams in other divisions. Couldn't care less. Secured playoff tickets today. Very excited.
  17. I first heard that joke last year in reference to the Lions. Probably more truth to it with the Lions, but hey, it hurts no matter who it is, if you're a fan.
  18. She's absolutely a publicity hound, and that is absolutely annoying. But the world is filled with publicity hounds, and Oprah is at least looking for publicity for her good deeds instead of something less beneficial to mankind. Even if it's all just for a pat on the back, who cares? The point is, she's doing things that help people. I don't care if I ever hear about her again, but I hope she continues to pile money into all sorts of good causes. EDIT: Yeah, what Edie said.
  19. She annoys the shit out of me, and is horribly overexposed, but she deserves more credit than some of you are giving her. She does give a shitload of money to a lot of charities. And yes, she's the first one to give herself a pat on the back (which is a big part of what makes her annoying), but at least she's doing it. Giving shit to her audience members doesn't mean anything to me, but she gives a lot more than just that.
