Well, I think they were hoping to have him back in tip-top shape for the playoffs. A Santana-Liriano combo in the playoffs could have made the Twins the favorites in the AL. It was a risk that I don't really blame them for, to be honest.

Alright, then I'll share mine. First listen was slightly disappointing, but rewarding. For such a forward-thinking band, it's really a bit of a re-hash of what they've done before, but not as good. Nothing here nearly as imaginative as Frances the Mute. A few more spins and I liked it a bit more though. The second half of the album is especially good. As is the usual with the Mars Volta, it's going to take more than a few listens to really grasp the whole thing, but I think it will stay in rotation for quite a while. I could see it maybe ranking up there with Deloused in the Comatoriu

Yep. Total coincidence. I chose the A's because they are the only likely playoff team in the AL that I really have no emotional investment in (I root for the Tigers, am currently heavily rooting against the Twins because they're so close to the Tigers, and live in Chicago, so the Sox in the series would be big around here and I'd have to watch), and I threw in the Cards just because there's no one in the West that has a chance to make it (although I'd be surprised if the Cards do too--it looks like the Mets should steamroll their way into the Series). I'd watch it, because I always watch the World Series. However, I wouldn't really have any more interest in a Yankees/Mets series than I would a Athletics/Cardinals series, for example.

That's way more pictures than I have of my family. I think I have about that many pictures of myself, all taken on my phone, plus maybe a couple that friends took and sent to me.

Yeah, I think to qualify as "magical", they've got to make the playoffs at least, but even then it's pretty questionable. Yes, a lot of young players have developed way, way faster than expected, but it's still a barely-.500 team. An exciting season? Sure. A season that gives fans a ton of hope for the future? Absolutely. Magical...um, no.
