Notre Dame is the Yankees of college football. They have, by far the largest group of fans who are obsessed with them. They also have the largest group of people who absolutely hate them. The are America's team.

Joe Morgan just explained that bunting in Little League is harder than bunting in the Majors. His reasoning was that, since the mound is so much closer than in the bigs, the hitters don't have as much time to get squared up. I realize that Joe Morgan is not a smart man, but he has to recognize that the Little League pitchers don't throw as fast as the pros, right?

I expressed my concern to a friend of mine who had the opposite reaction to it. He thought that the three consecutive lighter games should allow them to spend more time preparing for Ohio State. Hopefully he's right, but I have my doubts.

Well, I certainly don't think a 14 year old kid in a situation like that is going to have the same trauma as someone raped by a stranger or anything. He'd probably just think it was really cool, as would all his friends. Might screw him up as far as knowing proper ways to interact with women later in life though. I could definately see how an experience like that might skew his respect for women and turn him into a dick.

Yeah, that's just embarrassing. That's why Little League coaches are always telling their players to run it out, no matter what play the fielder should be able to make. As a major leaguer, that's just inexcusable. Not that it really mattered in that game. What a mess.

I just glanced over Michigan's schedule. Why is Ball State so late in the year? Usually, once the Big Ten season has started, they don't play anymore non-conference games. After Iowa, they play Northwestern, Indiana, and Ball State, before Ohio State. I sort of feel like maybe they won't be prepared for the Buckeyes after 3 weak games? I don't know...it's probably too early to worry about OSU because the season will be lost by the time we're done with Notre Dame anyway.

So they still have a shot at the wild card!

Cabrera is pretty awesome. It seems like he's already been around a while. Hard to believe he's still so young. If I were a Marlins fan, I think I'd be happy if Cabrera could put up the numbers from any of the years between Aaron's 3rd and 18th years. I'm guessing that Cabrera will put up at least a few of those seasons, but probably won't have quite the longevity that Henry Aaron did. Few do though.

That's a little bit deceptive. His most comparable player by age is Hank Aaron, but overall, his most comparable player is Hideki Matsui. Now, for as young as Cabrera is, that's still very good company, and he will almost certainly exceed Matsui's career by leaps and bounds, but Cabrera has a year more experience than Aaron did at his age. It certainly is a good guy to be that similar too, but I'd be careful overstating the similarities, as Aaron's numbers at that age weren't quite as good as they were for the bulk of his career. If you're looking for a bar, check out Crunchy's. I don't know exactly where it is, as I was taken there by Spartan friends (they almost didn't let me in because I had my Ann Arbor address on my license--it's that kind of place). Anyway, they have buckets of beer for pretty cheap. And I don't mean a bucket with a few bottles of beer in it. I mean they fill up a bucket with draught beer. Very cheap for a ridiculous amount of beer. Your table will end up sticky and gross, but you will be sloshed and it will be awesome.

I'd be totally fine with that. Moeller may be a drunk, but he's a much better coach than Lloyd.

I have a friend who grew up in Maryland outside of DC, and is still a big O's fan. Sports loyalties don't change that easily, just because there's a new team in town. I live in Chicago but am still a Detroit sports fan. Same sort of thing I guess. Proximity to a new team will never be strong enough to cancel out a history with an old one.
