  1. Well, here he lies and says that offshore drilling would drop prices in "months", and in this article, he's quoted lying about the safety of offshore drilling (he says that offshore drilling rigs survived Katrina without incident, which is false).
  2. No, he should consider public opinion among other factors, such as facts. The public's view on whether or not we should drill is one of opinion, but their view that it would lower prices in a year is factually false and obviously informs the polling on whether or not it's a good idea. And I'm sure he's aware of the fact that a lot of the people who favor it do so because he intentionally misinformed them.
  3. Plus, if Manny walks at the end of the year, they get 2 draft picks.
  4. Sure, but half of people also think that offshore drilling would reduce prices in the next year, which is false. On issue polling, its important to look at the accuracy of the information that people have.
  5. Tigers were down 8-1. Now it's tied 11-11. I love baseball.
  6. Pretty helpful for the Yanks with Posada gone.
  7. Tigers needed bullpen help bad, but I wonder if they could have done better. I'm not sure Farnsworth can help them enough right now to make it worth the draft picks they would have gotten if Pudge walked from the Tigers at the end of the year.
  8. Well sure, if any team is going to win, they have to use their money well, no matter how much money they have. It's possible to put together a winning team with a lower payroll, it's just a lot harder.
  9. Yeah, but in the year that the Marlins won their first one, 1997, their payroll was larger than Boston's (in that year, Florida's payroll was 5th largest in MLB at $52mill, while Boston was 15th at $40mill).
  10. Having more money doesn't automatically make a team better, but it makes it a whole lot easier for them to get better.
  11. Er, oops. Yes. My avatar is Ernie Harwell, long time broadcaster for the Detroit Tigers.
  12. Just read this analysis of the Kwame Brown signing, and I think it's actually convinced me:

  21. I agree. They were hard on him about things that were stupid and didn't matter, but didn't even report on the worst aspects of this administration. It's how they're covering the campaign too -- a slip of the tongue gets coverage, a drastic reversal in policy, or blatantly dishonest campaign ad goes unreported.
