  1. You're talking about two different things though. I agree that his record in the Senate has not been one of supporting the troops. Considering his military service it is surprising, but that does not necessarily mean that he's been dishonest about his service. His Senate record on military issues is absolutely fair game though, and that record can be discredited without pointlessly attacking his military record. Eh, I don't know if there are rules against accepting those things or not, but even if there is, it all seems very much off the point. I've never been a POW, but I imagine it'
  2. Yeah, I don't think his military service automatically qualifies him for anything, but it was all very respectable and certainly isn't a liability for him.
  3. I always liked him, but at this point it's hard to not be really really glad that he failed to get the nomination. The Dems would be completely fucked right now.
  4. You're probably right about that. She's likely to be a visible advocate for issues such as healthcare, but probably won't run for office or anything.
  5. I'm really glad I saw that relay as it happened. Incredible race.
  6. Perhaps crass for me to ask this (in which case, ignore me), but it's something that's been on my mind. Over the past year or so, there's been some speculation as to Elizabeth Edwards's political aspirations. A lot of people have accused Hillary Clinton of using her husband's infidelity as an opportunity to raise her own political profile. How will this scandal effect Elizabeth Edwards's political aspirations (if in fact she has any)? Will it help her in the way that some claim it helped Clinton? Will it hurt her by raising the same accusations? No effect? What do you all think?
  7. I've heard the comparison made many times but always thought it was a weak one.
  8. The first random page that came up for me was Johnny Scott (jazz vocalist), so I did another one so that my band can avoid a lawsuit. Gilding Metal - Not Be So Welcome I like.
  9. I didn't say he was treated badly. I have no idea how he was treated by his teammates or the front office and neither do you. Putting up with antics is one thing, but his relationship with teammates, front office, media, fans, etc. is more than just that. Yeah, wanting to play for the Yankees to get revenge at Boston fans is a little childish, but that doesn't mean he may not have some legitimate gripes about the time he spent there.
  10. How good did he have it in Boston? I mean yeah, he won two World Series (which I'm sure he knows), but none of us have any idea what things were like off the field for Manny in Boston.
  11. I don't think his political career is necessarily over -- other politicians have recovered from things like this. Might not hear from him for a while though.
  12. Oh yeah, this would have been a huge problem if he'd gotten the nomination. But he didn't, so its irrelevent now.
  13. I agree with this. And was just about to say something like this. I don't doubt that he still loves his wife.
  14. For sure. Agreed on that. To be honest, I'm not even sure who gets to make that decision if someone wanted to challenge McCain's eligibility, or even who would be the one to challenge it. I mean, it is something that would have to go through the courts I guess, but who would have standing to file a suit like that? The attorney general? I honestly don't know.
  15. I'm sure everyone here who is outraged is equally outraged at John McCain for cheating on his first wife. I don't condone adultery, but I also don't understand people's fascination with other families' problems.
  16. Seems pretty irrelevent to me. He's not running for anything anymore, and even if he was, this affects people outside of his family exactly zero.
  17. And he'll be wearing an electronic tether.
  18. There was some internet buffoonery about Obama's birth a few months back, and the state of Hawaii released a copy of his birth certificate so that "controversy" has already been diffused. But yeah, McCain was born in Panama and I guess there is some ambiguity about his eligibility based on some confusing wording in the Constitution. But I think pretty much everyone agrees that the Founders did not intend to exclude children of soldiers born on military bases outside of the U.S. from the Presidency (they actually probably didn't consider the possibility that the U.S. would have military base
  19. The Mets actually have the 8th worst bullpen in MLB, ahead of the Tigers, Rockies, Giants, Padres, Pirates, Rangers and Indians. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/aggreg...ng&type=reg
