  1. Why is an embryo that is a product of rape less valuable than one that is the product of consensual sex?
  2. Yeah, that would be a lot of innocent people, but we're talking about clumps of cells here.
  3. How many abortions are actually done on fetuses anyway? Aren't the vast majority of them still during the embryo stage?
  4. Those were great things that the Tigers did, not that happened to them. [/nitpick] What was wrong with the guy they had in left last year?
  5. This is interesting to probably no one but me, and maybe bobbob:
  6. None of those nominees are in like the best hundred rock albums that came out this year.
  7. The NHL lockout is the greatest thing that ever happened to the Tigers. Factual.
  8. Granted I don't live there anymore, but I did go to a few games in Detroit this past season, and still have a lot of friends back there. As far as I can tell, only Maggs and maybe Verlander and Granderson are more popular. Those who pay the closest attention realize he's not great anymore, but the more casual fans (which is most of them) fucking love him. Of course the Mitchell report could change that.
  9. Interesting. The rumor mills are confusing the story somewhere along the way. I don't think the Tigers would be trying to trade Pudge though. He's obviously way past his prime, but he's got a no trade clause and the fans would go fucking apeshit if they traded him. Plus, there aren't really any other good options at catcher out there right now.
  10. Apparently the Mets are already trying to pry Dontrelle away from the Tigers.
  11. Twins wanted more than Boston wanted to give them. Word is that the Mets are back in the Santana hunt.
  12. For what? A 30 year old A-baller and a tin of snuff?
  13. They're a 90 loss team easy, but I'm not so sure about 100. I'd guess mid-90s.
  14. That article also says that revenue sharing only brings in $30 million, not the $60 million cited earlier.
  15. I do want to live in a free society. But freedom ends where someone else's freedom begins. Environmental damage affects everybody, and therefore other people's freedoms have to be taken into account as well.
  16. The Twins really should move him. They were going to have trouble competing next season anyway, but now with the Tigers looking so much better, the Twins are pretty much guaranteed third place at best this year, even with Santana, so they may as well get what they can for him now since they have no chance at re-signing him. I think they're just waffling to raise the offers up to where they want them to be.
  17. But the environmental costs have to be considered too. They will cost everyone financially (in addition to the other obvious ways) later on. Aren't future costs to be considered as well?
  18. Inge will probably be traded to a National League team, or could possibly go back to being the Tigers' main utility guy, and maybe even picking up some innings at catcher again.
  19. Let the Brandon Inge trade sweepstakes begin.
  20. Haha, sorry, I was a little wound up from the excitement of this trade.
  21. Impossible to know without affording them some due process rights and actually working through the facts.
  22. No, I meant the whole league. The Red Sox are still better, but the gap really isn't that big. The Tigers would probably beat them in a 7 game series like 48-49% of the time. They were already among the favorites in the Central (the clear-cut second place team that was about one move away from being better than the division leader). If the Red Sox are slightly better, and they're approximately as good or maybe slightly better than the Yankees and Angels, then how are they not among the favorites in the league?
  23. I mean, even if Maybin reaches his highest potential, he probably still won't be as valuable as Cabrera. Oh, and by the way, Cabrera is only 24. So if the Tigers hold on to him, there's your answer for who's going to be in the line up a few years from now. He's a guy you build your franchise around if you get the chance.
