Actually there are some pretty reliable rumors out there that Torre wants to manage the Dodgers. I think you're right about Rivera though.
-
Must have missed that one. I read his book, but don't remember A-Rod being named. In that case I guess there's slightly more reason to think he's juiced than I'd thought.
-
Oh yeah, I agree. I don't think he's particularly thin-skinned, but the only reason to stay in New York is if he wants to punish himself. There are a couple other places where he could make as much (or nearly as much money), have just as good a chance to win a championship, and not get spit on by the fans and media so much. Why would he want to stay in NY?
-
He also never had any sudden jumps in production the way that Bonds did. Plus, there's never been any suggestion in any circles that he was juiced. Of course it's possible that he is, but only because it's possible any of them are. There's definately no reason to think A-Rod is juiced over pretty much anyone else in the game.

The only thing suggesting Lowell could be on the 'roids is that he had a crazy awesome year after looking like he was finished. The only thing suggesting that A-Rod could be on the 'roids is absolutely nothing.

The whole A-Rod being thin-skinned thing is just part of the narrative the media has written for him. He's never shown himself to be all that thin skinned. Despite the insane criticism against him, he has had exactly zero media blowups in his entire career. Seriously, where did this reputation for being thin skinned come from? It's completely fabricated. I cannot think of a single reason that people think he is thin skinned other than that they are constantly told that he is.

Here are a few more: Juan Marichal says he thinks Barry Bonds will retire. Eric Gagne is likely headed back to Texas.

Oh, also it is rumored that Selig will be handing out suspensions to confirmed steroid users soon. That could be interesting.

I've been digging around the online rumor sites. Here are some other interesting stories for this off-season. The Indians are trying to trade for an outfielder, and apparently they have a decent chance of getting Jason Bay. He's coming off a disappointing season, but is still solid and will probably come back strong. The Orioles may be looking to trade Miguel Tejada, and surprisingly Erik Bedard. Tom Glavine likely to end up in Atlanta or Washington. The Red Sox want to trade Coco Crisp. Likeliest place for him to end up is the White Sox. The Twins seem to not be interested in bri

Not really. Henne was out vs. Notre Dame, but Hart ran for 187 and two scores in that one. Henne also didn't play vs. Penn State, but Hart ran for 153 and a TD, and that game was close. They both played in the next two games. Hart didn't play vs. Illinois, but Henne got a good chunk of time, and that game was not a blowout. This was really the first game where both of them were out.
-
Yeah, then what would happen to Carlos Delgado? He is someone I could see them trying to unload if they had a chance to get A-Rod, but I'm not sure if he'd have any takers until the trade deadline of next season.
-
I can't see how A-Rod would end up the Mets. Would they be getting rid of Wright or Reyes? Or having one of them change positions? A-Rod is way better than either of those guys, but they're also both very good, are pretty young, and cost a whole lot less.

Yeah, I would imagine the Rangers are happy to be done paying him to play for someone else. I don't think they'll be offering him something larger at this point, considering how poorly things worked out with them last time. And I can't imagine he wants to go back. During the season some of the ESPN guys did mention him returning to Seattle, but I think it was just in terms of them being a team that was close to the playoffs and where he could make a big difference. I don't think they can pay him at this point either. I can't see it happening, but it would be pretty awesome if he went to

Last night Gammons named as possible A-Rod suitors: Anaheim, Texas and San Francisco. I don't know where the hell Texas came from, and I can't imagine that ever really happening. San Fran would be interesting because, although they were terrible last season, they also have a lot of money being freed up by not bringing Bonds back, and they're likely to have a friendly media and fanbase considering how good they were to Bonds through things a whole lot tougher to stand by than anything A-Rod has done. Anaheim, of course, seems like a legitimate option. Beyond A-Rod and I guess Andruw Jones

OK Computer is the place to start, but really any of them other than Pablo Honey would be fine.
-
Our starting running back (who is by far the most important offensive player on the team) and starting quarterback were out. Certainly still a much better team than Minnesota, but it wasn't a forgone conclusion that it would be a route.

Congratulations, Red Sox fans.

Up to #12 in the BCS. Shit yeah.

You're awfully bitter for someone who's team is about to win their second WS in 4 years.
-
Sorry you lost.

Definately.

The contracts being given them shows that they are valued, not that they're relevent. The people giving them those contracts think that they're worth a lot more than I do.
-
I don't think they're irrelevent. Just not as relevent as a lot of baseball fans think they are. I mean, as little as I think they effect the game, I still don't want Dusty Baker managing my team or anything.
