I lived for a year in Buena Park, which is wedged in between Uptown and Wrigleyville. The stretch of Uptown along Broadway can look a little rundown and scary, but I never had any problems there. That being said, I prefer where I am now (Noble Square) to that part of the city.

Can someone explain to me why it's so accepted that Renteria can't play in the AL? He certainly had one of his worst seasons in the year that he was in Boston, but it was not substantially different from the season he had in St. Louis the season before. It always seemed to me that perhaps he just had a bad year, and it wasn't necessarily due to playing in the AL. I'm not saying that this accepted wisdom on Renteria is wrong, just that I haven't ever heard a real explanation for it. So maybe someone can fill me in.

Still a question mark in left field, the back end of the rotation, and the bullpen, but this was probably the biggest hole, so I'm glad they get it patched up nice and early. I think that Zumaya is probably the closer next year.

I like Jurrjens, but this is a good move. And I'm taking the haste in which this move was made as a sign that the Tigers are going to be aggressive this off-season. Can't wait to see what else they do.
