  1. The conspiracy theories are all beyond implausible. I've seen all the videos that are supposed to prove it was an inside job, I'm familiar with the arguments. A lot of them seem fairly convincing on their face. The thing is, I'm not a physics expert by any means. I don't know very much about a lot of the subjects that are used to provide "evidence" for this. But there are a whole lot of people in this country who do know about those things, and strangely they are NOT the ones spreading these rumors. There'd be a much bigger response to this from experts rather than just anonymous people
  2. Anything MLB does to Bonds if he's convicted will be symbolic anyway, as the trial is going to take a while so he'll probably be long retired by then anyway. I suppose they could do the whole ban from baseball thing, but I think it would be a little hypocritical (not that that would stop them), and unlike Rose, it probably would really only mean the HoF, because I don't see Bonds ever becoming a manager or anything like that.
  3. He makes a good case, although I'm wondering if he made park adjustments before calculating those WARP numbers.
  4. This sounds way more likely. The off-season has just begun. Why would he give up on his initial asking price so quickly? And, even if he can't get as much as he initially thought, so long as he can get at least what this new Yankees offer is supposedly worth from someone else, why would he go back to the Yanks, where he was unappreciated and ridiculed the whole time (especially considering how humiliating it would be to slink back to them)?
  5. There are so many things wrong with that article. I'm highly skeptical.
  6. Dane Cook isn't as blatant as Mencia, but he has a couple bits that are similar to some old Louie CK stuff. It's not quite close enough to be certain he stole it, but close enough to be suspicious. I don't even care of Cook steals jokes or not though, because I don't want to hear him anyway.
  7. The fact that you're not sure shows just how low political discourse has fallen in this country.
  8. I personally don't disregard Braun's poor defense, I just think that his offense is enough to make up for it. And who cares if Tulowitzki is a switch hitter? His hitting skills count, for sure, but I don't understand why being a switch hitter is an extra qualification, especially since he is not, in fact, actually a switch hitter at all.
  9. Wins are a team stat. That being said, Beckett did have an excellent year. Sabathia is worthy, but Beckett would have been a fine choice as well. Tulo is pretty awesome, but Braun is already one of the best hitters in all of baseball. In any other year, Tulowitzki would have run away with it, but IMO Braun is the right choice.
  10. Ron English seemed like he was next in line last year, but his stock has fallen considerably since last year's OSU game.
  11. You're over it? Don't you at least need to see what you're getting for him first?
  12. He's going to platoon? With who? Raburn? Maybin? Anyway, he OPSed 83. Batting average is awfully misleading when a guy doesn't take any walks and has no power at all. Granted, he had some pop in his bat before last season, but he's going to be 33 so things can only go downhill from here. But you're right that there really wasn't a place for Infante, so they may as well get what they can for him.
  13. I'm sure he made the decision on his own terms, because the boosters, athletic department, etc. should have pressured him out years ago and failed to. I really don't see what he's done that makes him as good as any of those guys. I happen to think Schembecheler is overrated, but still substantially better than Carr. He's had some good teams, but his some of his best years early on were with Gary Moeller's players, and the Michigan name takes care of about 80% of the recruiting regardless of who the coach is. The Carr years, IMO, have been defined by underachievement and failed ultra-conse
  14. No, Neifi got busted for speed, not steroids.
  15. Pedroia was definately the right choice. Congrats to him. I always liked Infante, but there were some issues between him and Leyland (as evidenced by the fact that he was often behind Neifi Perez in the depth chart) that never really got explained to the media. The rumor is that he has some work ethic issues, but I thought he showed a lot of promise in his years in Detroit. He's still young, and has shown himself to be a decent middle infielder, and willing to play other positions as well. I hope he ends up turning in a solid career.
  16. Carr is gone after this year. I'm about 85% sure of it. And if he's not, I'm jumping off the bandwagon. I've not been a fan of his for a few years now, and there's certainly nothing that's happened this year that has changed my opinion at all. They need to go after Les Miles with everything they've got, and if they fail in wooing him (and I really don't think it's an impossible task), they need to explore some other options. Carr has proven himself to be substandard way too many times now.
  17. The Tigers have traded Omar Infante for Jacque Jones. I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, the Tigers don't really have a place for Infante, and need a left fielder, which is where Jones will be playing. On the other hand, Infante is still really young, and Jones is old, overpaid, and coming off a really bad season. I'm not too optimistic that he will bounce back, but have high hopes.
  18. CAN WE HAVE A GOD DAMN PLAYOFF NOW????
  19. Holy shit. I hadn't noticed this before, but you are totally right.

  21. You know that his assertion is true because he cites "a published report".
  22. I hope he tells the contestants to say their prayers and eat their vitamins.
