  1. From Many Years from Now (New York, Henry Holt and Company, 1997) by Paul : "Got to Get You Into My Life" was one I wrote when I had first been introduced to pot. I'd been a rather straight working-class lad but when we started to get into pot it seemed to me to be quite uplifting. It didn't seem to have too many side effects like alcohol or some of the other stuff, like pills, which I pretty much kept off. I kind of liked marijuana. I didn't have a hard time with it and to me it was mind-expanding, literally mind-expanding. So "Got to get You Into My Life" is really a song about that, it'
  2. How could I forget the Avett Brothers?!? I'd like to make them my #1 choice for Dream Opening Act.
  3. The green plastic watering can For a fake chinese rubberplant In the fake plastic earth That she bought from a rubber man In a town full of rubber plans To get rid of itself It wears her out It wears her out It wears her out It wears her out She lives with a broken man A cracked polystyrene man Who just crumbles and burns He used to do surgery for girls in the eighties But gravity always wins And it wears him out And it wears him out And it wears him out She looks like the real thing She tastes like the real thing My fake plastic love But I can't help the feeling I could blow through t
  4. It's good to get some relief in the middle of such a tough time; I'm glad you got such a great show from one of your favorites. Continued thoughts for you and your family.
  5. Band of Horses. Or Rogue Wave. Or Andrew Bird.
  6. "You're the One" was definitely the only song that stuck with me off Magic Potion. I never could get into that one, but I was (and still am) head-over-heels in love with Rubber Factory. I'd never miss an opportunity to see them live.
  7. *jealous* Dude and I saw him a couple weeks ago in Chicago, and it was a really great show. He played quite a few songs from Heartbreaker, including Call Me On Your Way Back Home, which I had always wanted to hear live. Have a great time!
  8. I love deep dish, but I can also go for some good, crispy, thin crust from time to time. Now I'm craving pizza!
  9. I think it was about pot... Blasphemy! One of my least favorites is Your Mother Should Know.
  10. Actually, this is the correct answer.
  11. On the 3rd or 4th listen, I totally heard stuff I hadn't noticed at all before. The whole album is really growing on me, and All I Need =
  12. Happy birthday, Jess! Sorry I'm late...
  13. Thank you!! I had a very special birthday with lots of good surprises, so thank you to Mr. Dude for being such a sweetie. Thanks again for the thoughtful thread!
  14. How about one more tour, and then look into it?
  15. Apparently this whole thing started as a joke on Hipinion.
  16. Official statement from the White Stripes publicist: "Some people have a very twisted sense of humor and this prank is in particularly bad taste. The tape circulating on the internet as featuring Meg White is fake. It's definitely not Meg." The girl in the video kinda looks like Meg, but I seriously doubt it's her. However, I do think the "acute anxiety" excuse was a fake one...
