Somebody needs to explain this to meMystik Spiral replied to the_fliz1's topic in Someone Else's Song Ah, my incorrect assumption. I think what Louie said is right on the money, and you certainly can't count out Caitlin Cary's contribution to Whiskeytown. She's an amazing musician in her own right.

Somebody needs to explain this to meMystik Spiral replied to the_fliz1's topic in Someone Else's Song You read too much bad Ryan Adams press. Ryan has had a lot of shit delivered his way over the years. Some deserved, some not. Honestly, I can admit to being a total fangirl... but at the end of the day, whether you buy into his shtick or not, whether you love him or hate him, he's a talented guy. that's pretty much it for me, too. it's just so damn beautiful. i like a lot of "big" music, but the really sparse, stripped-back material, when done right, really strikes a chord with me. for another example, take lori mckenna's "kitchen tapes". just her voice, her guitar and a minidisc recorder at her kitchen table (hence the album title). lori's version of 'fake plastic trees' remains one of my favorite cover songs, ever. and i don't even like radiohead... it's pretty fucking cold here this week too...

I can't wait to see that album cover in person. When I buy it on vinyl.

I this soundtrack. And, I finally saw the movie tonight. As expected, it was excellent. There's a new landmark theater in denver with a $12 flat rate for movie and unlimited popcorn and soda. Plus, they have a bar right outside... I spent girl's night out watching a great movie with friends, popcorn, and a gin and tonic. Spectacular. Thundercats are gooooooooo!

Should be good... I saw Lanegan play with Dulli & Twilight Singers back in '06. Fun times.
