Bummer. Holly had indicated that they'd be back through Denver in May. Perhaps they'll squeeze us in between Boise & Mpls. Especially since DeVotchka is local...

I was at the Birchmere once. I think it was in 2000. It was very nice. EDIT: not really a theater, though. But not a club either. More of like a sit down at tables room. If that makes sense...

i'm just jealous...

oh man I hope they come back to Denver. Last time they were here was August last year, but the show conflicted with my parents' 40th anniversary party. Couldn't very well skip out on that. As to the ridiculous "convenience" charges, I do not ever pay for ticketmaster or ticketweb unless absolutely necessary. Luckily for me most of the bands I love don't sell out in advance. Selfish though it may seem, I hope that the trend continues...

(but not really. you suck.)

Hope you had fun! God, haven't seen them for nearly a year and a half, it's about time they come back here already... for me:

I'm madly in love with the US bonus track ("In The Night").

Not to worry, T. I said to Basia tonight: "I'm supposed to tell you that Tualla sent me". She lit up and said "Oh my god!", then "Tualla knows the coolest people!" (obviously). She said it's been great having people every few stops who mention you, that it's like finding little easter eggs all over the country... She is absolutely sweet as can be. Anyone who's town is still to come on this tour, GO - you won't be disappointed. If the album is amazing (and it is), the live show is like 10x better.

Yes, I'm obsessed at the moment. Anyone who can interpret the ??? lyrics gets a cookie: A Balloon On A Broken String. i'm not a boy i'm a big fat balloon flapping in the wind floating over the treetops all the broken string i've never been tied down to anything because i'm free i suppose i can go where i want to go i drift carelessly on a summer breeze i bounce above the trees i try to be cheerful but i can feel myself deflating all the time up in the sky because i'm a balloon on a broken string i'm not attached to anyone or anything anymore oh oh oh shoo bee doo tra la la i'm sad and alone

Nice. Just don't let the Chicago music scene blow your mind too much...

So, when are you gonna move already? btw, I've been admiring your schrutebuck avatar for some time now... well done.

The potentially sad thing is I saw them in Boulder summer of '06 at a venue that was WAY too big for them. The theatre holds around 700 people, and if there was 100 for that show I'd be amazed. If memory serves (OK, not bloody likely, but still) there were probably around 50 of us there. But I'm still holding out for them coming back. And also to Miami...

I hear ya - the lyrics ARE really heavy and amazing and touching. I just love how Jof & Peter manage to create such a bouncy feel to material that is so weighty. It's nice to be able to play the disc for the kids in my life that I love because I know they'll like the beat without knowing what the songs are "truly" about. I've thought about these guys almost constantly since they released TBPE in 2005 and now that a new album is on the horizon, with 2 songs that are extraordinarily promising, I'm soooooooo excited!!

One of the things I love most about The Best Party Ever is that it is emotionally deep, yet still I can play it for my little nieces and nephews and they laugh and dance. We all love it, probably for different reasons, but we all love it... In fact, the new songs caused me to pull the debut out for the first time in a while. Still amazing... And, I'm gushing.

the new songs are great. love the banjo/synth combo on TBLLT Is A Machine. Balloon is classic TBLLT - bouncy on the outside, brooding on the inside. I'm with bobbob - love these guys...
-
That Juno soundtrack is great. I've been listening to these quite a lot this evening: Trademark TBLLT misleading cuteness...
-
OK, I am really LOVING the new songs. god I can't wait for the album...
