  3. they're playing denver on august 28 - reported openers are golden boots, ghost buffalo and porlolo. ghost buffalo and porlolo are denver-based, and golden boots are from arizona, so it seems pretty much local for this one too.

  9. in a story that is probably funny to nobody but me... a couple months ago i went on vacation to cancun with some siblings & in-laws. my sister-in-law kasey came down to breakfast one morning and let out a "dos mios!" about something or another, then went on to explain how she'd been watching the spanish soap operas and that "dos mios" was the only spanish she knew. she was so proud until my brother says... "do you realize that you're saying 'two kaseys'?". this is now what i think of everytime i see or hear the phrase "dios mio"... anyhoo, now playing (because i can't seem to f
  10. so, i saw gary jules tonight. he is amazing and i highly recommend his live show. anyway, just before his final song he announced that he's trying to phase out the encore for singer-songwriters, that when you play small venues it seems a bit pretentious. then he went on to say that he saw wilco (who he loves) recently with a friend of his who is in commercial real estate and therefore doesn't get out much. so they were at the show, listening to wilco for like, 3 days. they left the stage, everyone was applauding, then they came back for another hour. gary said that while he was happy f

  13. if you're looking for misery loves company, i can totally vouch for "electro-shock blues" (fucking beautiful album) or pretty much any elliott smith. more recently, give elvis perkins' "ash wednesday" a spin. i love it, maybe you will too.
  14. no, i didn't see harry potter today... i'm waiting a bit for the crowds to die down. but daniel radcliffe on conan tonight was charming, intelligent, funny and absolutely adorable. what a great interview that kid gives... plus he's a fan of art brut after seeing them at reading a couple years ago. art brut did "direct hit" and it was pretty much what i would have expected. good performance. plus i love eddie argos... talk about a dude that totally needs some ritalin...
  15. ^^i loved, loved, LOVED skeleton. and i'll tell you - the first time i listened to the new one i was disappointed too. it seemed to start solidifying after about the 3rd listen though, and i'm really enjoying it now. give it a bit more time, i hope you change your mind...
