  1. also good points. i really liked oteil with page mconnell's band vida blue. their first album was good.
  2. good points. point of interest. up north, we called ABB the Allmans. down south they call them 'the brothers.' same thing with widespread and 'panic'
  3. it would be fun to see them i guess. i just can't get into them. the idea of them is interesting, but the actual product is just so dull to me. i didn't mean you hadn't participated much in this thread in fact, your comments about the search prompted me to give it another try. thanks! i was just hoping you would play the son volt song title game peace brother!
  4. i think derek is great, but he's a one trick pony. as soon as he rocks a solo, you've seen it all with him. i bet the allmans will just to a beacon run and maybe something in the south from now on. i'm sure derek will show up for these. what else is he gonna do? he and warren really are not getting any bigger without their respective dinosaur bands. so glad i saw then in the 90s with dickey, warren and woody. even saw the mule with woody and that was the SHIT! damn, those were great shows!
  5. damn it cortez. i got excited to see you posted in this thread. i thought you would have a bunch of son volt titles
  6. i wish the new album was called 'american dream dust'... anyway, how about a new game. make up the son volt song. take to random words and connect the with '&' here's a few Boots & Bastards Concrete & Masturbation Tires & Turniquits i could go on..
  7. thanks. i checked out one of his self-titled albums and it was a bit rough. i do like the RCA allstars live set from new years 77.
  8. good point. i guess some might call it a brilliant mess. anyway, watch out for the backlash.
  9. if you look at my initial post, i recommend M.Ward over the others.
  10. better watch out. i do pop up a lot around here with opinions that no one else agrees with (which doesn't qualify them as non-opinions).
  11. http://www.glidemagazine.com/articles/5463...ctric-dirt.html looking forward to this. is any of his other solo stuff any good? i like a bit of danko's, but not robbie robertson.
  12. as boring as your reaction. seriously, what's the fucking difference between me expressing my opinion on this thread and others who have listed a preference for one of the three artists in question?
  13. M. Ward is a true talent. as far as bpb and lambchop, i just don't get why an artist would want to be intentionally shitty.
  14. this is terrible! every song is pushed into that slow temp blues 'ratdog jam'. as i suspected, warren has now idea how to fit in. does warren even know the songs? not to mention, the rest of the band are just plodding along trying to let warren and jeff keep up. oh man, the dead are dying a slow death.
  15. i'm sure it was fun as hell...not for that much money though. they probably have the sections worked out. of course phil, bob, mickey, and billy are all sharp as a tack. bob and phil especially. it's just not the DEAD man. jeff is just a bar band keyboardist and warren doesn't fit. not to mention they do not have decades of jamming with the those two other guys. it just seems like they're just looking at each other all the time trying to figure out what to do next. they just sound like a cheesy jam band circa 1998 at the brandy house in atlanta.
  16. wonder if anyone had ever found that dude giving the peace sign. wonder if he's still alive. awesome cover! that tour was f'd up but the set lists were sick.
  17. as usual, amazing set on paper. probably meh, live. wish we had got some of those sets in the90s.
  18. bose is too expensive. i did a shit load of research before buying mine. THE BEST DOCK is the Griffin Amplifi. check it out. $150. it has a subwoofer and is basically 2.1. sounds as good as the bose with better base and the price is incredible. give this one a look. the rest are nothing compared to this.
  19. jesus, i hope that's on a marble on an anus jupiter close up?
  20. yes. it's not totally catchy like heart of gold, but it is the essence of neil. great riffs.
