  1. there are many typos on this demo. hope they get fixed. they also get a few names wrong. also-when is this gonna leak?
  2. that would make sense, wouldn't it? however, the entire albums from this early period are not on the archives. only select songs.
  3. i agree with you about the sound. it's got a lot of high end. also, the unreleased stuff on that demo are not too revelatory. yes, he should just put it out online. i mean, what's the point of physical media anymore? get vinyl if you want it. otherwise, if neil really wants to cutting edge, putting it all in the cloud is the way to go. then just update that. playboy just did something similar. although the demo is cool, it's not user friendly and the rumors are that there's a shit load of easter eggs. neil young is infuriating! i saw what looked like a release schedule
  4. http://www.neilyoung.com/archives/northcou...disc8-demo.html new archives demo. pretty cool.
  5. 'the added content' stuff will never happen. maybe one or two bs videos or news clippings, but that's it. if you buy this, you're still gonna have to buy the sorely need remasters of the early albums. what a joke. i bet it gets pushed back and that neil has some deal with java in all of this.
  6. that does seem to be the case with paste. ANYONE who puts out a cd can advertise in that mag. even some no name from the middle of georgia. i think that's why they cover so much shit. whoever sends them some cash with a promo gets talked about.
  7. didn't they quit the sampler cd and make it only downloads?
  8. i just never liked any of the stuff they covered. it's ironic that they focused on 'signs of life' given the fact that most of the stuff they cover is totally adult alternative MOR. sorry to see them go. their office is not more than 2 miles from where i live. the problem is that there is nothing good to cover any more. not to mention the fact that any piece of news one might want about a favorite band is available instantly on the internet.
  9. i've pretty much digitized. i got so overwhelmed with my music listening habits etc. that i've basically started over. i have kept a few cds for nostalgia's sake to show my kids...tonight's the night, sgt pepper...etc. at this point thought, if you really want the object then vinyl is the way to go. upload the mp3s to the ipod, listen and look at he gatefold. irony at its best.
  10. good points. astral weeks is a great example of lack of availability. i remember, i wanted the new eagles a few years ago and had to walmart (ick!) to get one. walmart's not close to my house either.
  11. i've made the same point here several times. i was listening to sound opinions' record store day special and they had several record store owners and all had that uber cool attitude to me. they kept going on and on about how you can only get 'good' recommendations for new music from the indie record store clerk. i've never gotten any recommendations from those dudes. mostly indifference. kids would probably frequent these places more, but they just get flack when they want to buy coldplay or nickelback. its too bad.
  12. if anything, this is gonna be fun. going to a store and seeing a vinyl section. just like the 70s man!
  13. with the utmost temerity and self-absorption, i condemn the album cover as 'hipster bullshit'. ps-"the bullshit hipsters" would be a great band name.
  14. hey cryptique, have i personally attacked you or anyone else on this board? no. did i post an emotionally reactive opinion about the new album cover? yes, so has everyone else. mine was just 'different'. are you attacking me personally in this post? yes.
  15. interesting. i know there isn't anything on demonoid. and much less than usual on btjunkie. wow, now fan sites going away is going a little too far. i notice not much van is on itunes, but it's all on amazon. interesting character he is. saw him on leno last night and it was great!
  16. what's GEMA? also, what did van morrison do? i actually went looking for something by him on one of 'those' sites yesterday and there was nothing to be found interestingly. seems like any artist could just hire some tech dude to go out there once a week and dismantle torrents, blogs, etc.
  17. i actually love the Dan. fagen's recen solo album is great. just don't listen to them much lately. i'm just mad that concerts cost so much these days. would love to head out to the local outdoor shed to see a few shows this summer, but i don't have an extra $500s. now, if i were going back in time to see a classic band, then i might spring the cash.
  18. utterly ridiculous price when fagen is just gonna mumble and vamp becker does basically nothing. why do people keep buying tickkets this expensive?
  19. john fahey neil young jerry garcia bob weir CLARENCE WHITE!!!!!
  20. i wondered about that too. if he's got a solo disc and the molina collaboration coming out, he sure is prolific. anyone hear the magnolia 7inch from record store day? i guess an ep is coming out as well.
  21. okay, thanks for the info. and you're right about farrar and young. good points;) i downloaded a few songs from love you. we'll see. south san gabriel is the same band, right?
  22. well, i'm officially back into genesis. those clips were awesome!!
  23. i wish i could get into this. the music is always so good and well produced. i just can't get on board with will's voice and sometimes odd lyrics.
