  1. maybe album sales are decreasing because most music sucks. it never ceases to amaze me how 'smart business men' are so damn stupid. the industry is gonna have to shrink and respond to demand. obviously, trying to create the market (by spending millions on trying to convince people to get into the shit they peddle) is backfiring on them.
  2. i was just thinking about what the top 5 classic rock songs would be... hotel california stairway freebird Money (?) Hey Jude Short People Spirits(having flown) Brandy Hot Child In the City Sentimental Lady Minute By Minute You're No Good-awesome solo!
  3. good points. it doesn't look like a user friendly thing. especially sitting on your couch listening to the tunes and trying to read shit on the television. disc set and books would do just fine. people that dig music dig being able to sit down, pop the songs they want to hear immediately, and look at art, writing and pictures. he's missed the point.
  4. oh, i'm not gonna buy it i have a feeling it's been packaged several times. in a 99 interview neil had a version in the interview at that point.
  5. Jesus Christ that trailer changed my mind!!! The remastered songs sound incredible! and that version of Dance by Crazy Horse yeah, i assume they would kill the vibe at the show. i put them all on my ipod as the lincvolt album and just listened to it through. it was easy to listen to and catchy. where as, to my ears, the most recent albums only had a few actually good songs on them.
  6. http://thesongdog.rusties.net/sounds/ link above to all of neil's new tunes he busted out in the last few nights. they all have a linkvolt theme and are actually catchy. they are toss offs, but damn if they aren't a bit compelling and hang together well. now if neil could record these with a little effort, it might be a fun little album. CDII had two good songs, but was all over the place. Prairie Wind was just overproduced and LWW was a mess. so maybe this will be okay. at least better than are you passionate?
  7. where'd you get the live amendola band?
  8. totally! volume has the potential to be great. homegrown stuff, the tropical stuff left off trans, hopefully some good CSNY stuff from that era. even if there aren't that many unreleased tunes from that era, the ones i know about, including Hitchhiker, will be great to have in good audio quality. volume 3 has the potential to be horrendous he had so many unreleased tunes from old ways and blue notes. however, i really want to hear the first oldways. seems like it was a little more warmer and less commercial country judging from depression blues on lucky 13.
  9. i am excited about this. although not a huge fan of either pearl jam or obrien, i respect them both. yield is a great album and obrien did a great job with it. so...a remixed ten sounds like a great idea!
  10. thanks for the info. i have seen those youtube clips. they're pretty good. i 'll check out the other stuff she's been on. jenny schienman's ablum this year was great too.
  11. it's a major hassle. especially when you get a bit older and it becomes a bit harder to ignore the ridiculousness of it all. bar shows starting at midnight, parking fees, opening bands, drunk dudes, etc.
  12. what else has she plalyed on? any recommendations?
  13. Mary Halvorson Trio: Dragon's Head sick album. she is just something else!
  14. please look above as many folks here are less than pleased with this list. some saying they don't like any of it.
  15. i read that they want to knock out one more good album and then quit. stop while you're ahead.
  16. glidemagazine.com it's good little music website that has pretty noteworthy daily news. i check it everyday. i think it was focused on jambands in the past, but now it's more of a focus on 'good' music. they like wilco, neil young, and even coldplay. i like it. as far as the list goes. i like none of them. i've tried and tried to get into that fleet foxes, but it is so derivative and boring. not to mention the guy is so trying to imitate jim james. even with his inflections and phrasing. sad.
  17. 'early 2009' betcha it will get bumped to spring. now i just want to see a damn tracklist!!
  18. i'm just not feeling the new Sugar Mt. disc. i have loved that version of sugar mt from decade and really hoped the whole show would have more of a brooding feel. it really is just an archive and my sense is that most of the actual archives will be like this. fun to hear a few times only to go back to the good stuff. maybe neil does have good instincts. i don't know about others, but i have this thing about live albums. i get a feeling from them. especially with dead shows etc. like, i love the feeling of reckoning.
  19. amazon also has this tune Dream Baby Dream...what is this from? it's not on the new album track list. http://www.amazon.com/Dream-Baby/dp/B001L5...pd_sim_dmusic_1
  20. okay, i will check out 88.5. i have listened to 91.1 in the morning, but yes, it is a little too 'out there' when i'm trying to get kids ready for school and i am with you on the soprano sax. on the miles stuff, it does get annoying and with oregon it gets cheezy real quick. i think it also brings down a bit of the bela fleck stuff too, if you're into that. funny story, a good friend of ours is a trumpet player, joe grandson. he plays around atlanta all the time, twains on thursday nights i think. anyway, he is buddies with kenny g and is making an album with him. oh no! so, do y
  21. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zUHQWNsnU8s this is really really bad.
  22. the production on this tune sounds 100% better than rising, DD, or magic. vocals up front and just the e street band. good stuff! i really love when the woman comes in every few seconds and says "music on demand"
  23. where are you training? sounds awesome!
