  1. yeah, i need to get sno angel...i hope i can warm up to the choir. c
  2. i am from ohio which has given us jason molina, joe walsh, and mark kozelek. not to mention my hometown dayton gave us GBV and the breeders...and of course, the ohio players. not a fan, but hung out with them at the dayton airport once. c
  3. yeah, lucas directed IV which was really campy, but great. that's part of it's 70s charm etc. not to mention he had a great cast that had chemistry. ESB was awesome because lucas was only an executive producer and had someone else write the script. with jedi, he took more control which resulted in the ewoks, ahhhhhh! he finally listened to fans with III, but still the script was really rough in places and protman and ewin could not save those movies for all their talent. c
  4. i guess for me it is just too mind blowing to have all my music in a little box!! it just freaks me out:) that being said, it's nice. i can easily get caught up in sound quality etc. maybe i am just making too big a deal. i mean, cds are gonna be over soon and hopefully we will get lossless downloads at some point.
  5. actually rewatched these not too long ago. the extra mos eisly stuff is really out of place, but other things work, such as the new ending to Jedi. now if they would just go back and edit out the ewoks, touch up all light sabers, that would be cool. c
  6. they were awesome. for the real fans, much like ESB. i think when lucas gives direction to others, the results are better than when he is directing.
  7. so i downloaded a bunch of jason molina, songs ohia, magnolia, and howe gelb on emusic, but i just dont feel like i own the music. i feel like i should have it on my shelf, like i do with other favorites: NY, Zep, Wilco. also, what's the best way to support an artist? do they make more money when we buy discs or downloads? thoughts? craig
  8. been really getting into him lately. totally compelling. love his dry voice and very intentional sparse production. the listener has been my first intro. wanting to get into giant sand. seems like there is a lot out there. c
  9. i should have probably said I didn't like the genre rather than the statement above.
  10. i am not surprised. the whole movement is over. and it's totally saturated with so much junk. like paste, there is maybe one good recommendation a year from this magazine. as much as i love the whole indie ethic, the production, etc. the music is just so MOR and/or unlistenable. i love wilco, MMJ, and magnolia electric, but that's as far as i can go with it. there is just so much bad bad music out there and emusic doesn't make it any better for me. i think i am gonna have to go back to cds. craig
  11. i think it's all complete crap. sorry. i would like television if it wasn't for Tom's obnoxious voice! craig
  12. My favorites are as follows Never Not Funny-Over an hour of hilarious talk with comedian jim pardo and various guests. would pay for it. Unfettered Mind-Practical buddhism. Sound Opinions-Fun music talk show i'm sure most of you know. others i listen to sometimes are Fresh Air, All Songs Considered, Media Matters, Civilianism... so recommend some other ones please. there is so much crap out there, i need some help sifting. thanks craig
  13. balls to the wall rock, roll, and psychadelia. very tight and professional band and totally compelling. the show was sold out and the band seemed surprised that the crowd was so into the music. i bet the midwest shows will be killer too as they love their classic rock. anyway, phat riffs, moog synth, chick vocals. what more could you want! craig
  14. awesome interview with Molina from last year. He talks about his 'symbolic language' he uses in his songs. ya know, moon, darkness, ghosts. really neat stuff about song writing and his life. FYI-Ghost Tropic is quickly becoming a favorite! http://www.popmatters.com/pm/features/arti...ia-electric-co/ Craig
  15. you're right! damn, i am just having a hard time figuring out what sessions songs were from. thanks for the correction. so it seems like What Comes After the Blues was a session and then Fading Trails has tunes pulled from different sessions. seems like we're due some new MEC this year? hey, have you ever heard Amalgamated Sons of Rest...that project with Oldham, Molina, and some other dude? I wonderd if it was worth picking up. Anyway, this thread is really getting me on a Molina kick. Really trying to digest Pyramid Electric Co. It was warm enough to have the windows open he
  16. I Memphis Moon is not on Sojouners, but the rest of Fading Trails is on there. None of What Comes After the Blues is on there as you said. The DVD that comes with the box set is awesome. Way too short though. As far as Songs Ohia goes, I like the Lioness and Didn't It Rain. The MEC album is great, but has some real bad tunes, like the one with the country guy singing and that woman that sings with Jason. She can be a bit annoying. Any similar bands to this out there? Craig
  17. everything is available at emusic.com...sojourner is a box set with most of the good tunes from Fading Trails and What Comes After the Blues in a new disc called Nashville Moon. That is their best band record. Songs ohia is a whole different beast as is molina solo. it's all worth checking out but takes time to digest. let us know what you think! craig
  18. yeah, she is almost too good. Neko would have been interesting. Allison does look really good with that long hair! not to mention plant is still a badasssss....still doing those rock god moves!
  19. i love your avatar. where did you get it? neil has also changed my world. too many times to number. craig
  20. it's just not holding up for me. there are maybe 4 songs i really liked and now i am tired of them. craig
  21. very true. on another side point. all of neil's recent quotes, the tour, and album def. have fostered some dialog over the last year and a half. this seems to have been his point. craig
  22. this surely would push people to more piracy. c
  23. here's hoping he does an album similar to his first solo album or maybe he'll get back to the long form stuff of the phish early days. we still got a lot to hear from this dude and he's got some potential. also, the fact that he has been able to stay sober indicates that he may have just been struggling with abuse, rather than addiction. that bodes well for the future. rock on trey!
