  1. this is even more awesome when you consider the entire crazy horse hasn't played with neil for years.
  2. thanks so much! credits over at neilyoung.com indicate the title as 'horse back'.
  3. fyi-it's a studio jam into a cortez jam. production is incredible. love hearing sampedro!
  4. there's a few really bad parts on youtube. i wish bob would just host that stuff on the site after it's done. from what i saw, it sounded good. not a huge ratdog fan, but seeing is a nice break from furthur. got me checking out other ratdog vids. an eyes with mark is really good. he's an excellent guitarist when he opens up (or is allowed to open up). i would much rather see him in furthur than john. unfortunately, ratdog suffers from what furthur excels at...every tune being so slow to mid tempo. just plodding along.
  5. this is interesting. i actually like the space junk stuff.
  6. the will johnson solo albums are good too. as is the molina johnson record.
  7. this is interesting. personally, stuff i have allegedly downloaded i would never ever buy in the first place. the other thing is that people got tired of buying a cd for one song and getting burned when most CDs sucked. also, music is way too expensive and always has been. 9.99 for a disposable download? really.
  8. it was nice being able to find rare and out of print stuff. at the same time, dave lowery has a point.
  9. the ripple effect of megaupload's shutdown has been incredible.
  10. 'so is wilco over-rated?' i hate this kind of stuff. jeff is so kind. i'd respond...'you really don't have anything else than that?' why do these hacks continue to ask and write the same thing? it goes to show you that when you really know a subject it's quite scary how 'wrong' most news stories are. i'd like reviewers to ask how they get a certain sound on the album, what do you do while on tour, what are you listening to now, solo album, when do you write, how do you write, tell us about writing X.
  11. this is fun news. horse and the autobiography. i can see the book being shelved though...no pun intended. as for the horse, it's now or never i think. this is turning out to a be a fun year..new springsteen, new neil and two projects form jay farrar.
  12. http://neilyoungnews.thrasherswheat.org/2012/01/report-new-crazy-horse-album-recorded.html New Crazy Horse album kind of confirmed. No surprise the Buffalo Springfield tour won't happen.
  13. i'd love to hear a live, in the studio album without overdubs from bruce. just drums, bass, piano and guitar. just straight ahead...no gimmicks. i guess i was a little harsh initially with this tune. it's not bad and is definitely not too cheesy.
  14. i had a hunch he would name the album wrecking ball. fwiw, gillian welch also has a tune called wrecking ball. better than the NY tune...that emmylou covered. it's not that bad of a song, but these guys have been making shit 3 times longer than they made anything good. they don't have anything to prove anymore. just do an acoustic album for god's sakes or what until you have some inspiration
  15. i was sad when garcia died, but it also was a relief. it was a struggle in the end. also sad about how vince died.
  16. interesting story. cool how the guy just kind of knew who to talk to. the band really was different after brent. vince was in over his head, but damn if i still didn't go to as many shows as i could. i just LOVED it so much. we all agreed to show up at certain places and the boys would come out and play and we all danced. so great. i just love love love listening to jerry garcia play guitar. add in phil, bob, brent, rhythm devils and it just worked for me. at the end, there were some gems at each show. the last MSG run was really fun. what i'd give to see a victim second set open
  17. yeah, phil and friends did tighten up with that line up. saw a couple of those shows. not too bad. plus they had an album. yeah, i'll never give up. i will know exactly what weir, phil etc. are up to until i or they die. it's in my blood and i keep hoping for some magic:) btw-what furthur forum? they love john?
  18. i like it. nice change in production from the o'brien stuff. def has a River/BITUSA vibe. the cover art is also great. however, do we need the sampled hand claps!! god, when will it stop?
  19. In a 2010 Rolling Stone article Weir explained why the band had split into two camps. "Phil and I were boldly pursuing new musical directions onstage, and some of the guys weren't picking up on it," Weir said. "Phil and I are way more current." Read more: http://www.rollingstone.com/videos/new-and-hot/previously-unseen-jerry-garcia-interview-footage-revealed-20110411#ixzz1jrfRhjF7 i think it's the other way around. with out mickey and billy everything is at the god awful slow to mid tempo. not to mention, there really is no jamming or solos per se in furthur. john hit's some garciaisms
  20. loops, electric drums, hip hop...oh no. he's only missing vocoder.
  21. so excited about the new one. it looks great. like all his movies, it takes me a few times of watching it and then i fall in love. been watching mr. fox with my kids. nothing objectionable at all in that film for kids.
  22. that is an amazing site. gonna be spending some time there with the song commentaries.
  23. seeing that pic of his drums in the studio is cool. wish i could go in there a make them sound like drums on the next album. not some digitized beats as they have sounded since...counterparts? none the less, looking forward to the album.
