I'm just suggesting that some slack be cut because it is clear this guy has it coming to him posting something like that on a Wilco board. I've seen a lot of "rants" on this board and most of them are incoherent messes of anger. Snow Ships made some decent points and maybe some people should consider some of what he has to say. Don't get me wrong, Wilco are my favorite band of all time, but no band is perfect and sometimes people tend to forget that.

Wow! Quite a rant!
Luckily for that guy's sake, there's still Dave Matthews, Coldplay, and maybe even Hootie and the Blowfish.
I'd be curious to read a positive rant about someone that snow ships likes a lot.
In fairness to snow ships, he didn't "rant," he made a pretty coherent argument. While I personally don't agree with what he had to say, his points are respectable and it is clear he knows his Wilco.

don't think these have been posted:
JUL-15 - 17 - SUFFOLK, ENGLAND - LATITUDE FESTIVAL
JUL-20 - BENICASSIM, SPAIN - FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE BENNICASSIM
Save for some June dates, doesn't seem like there is going to be a full-scale U.S. tour until August or so.

i stand by john mayer and ben folds in a big way. that show will be the largest gathering of assholes with backwards hats, teenyboppers, and other assorted fools... but ive stood by them both this long, im not gonna tap out now when i love the music...
occasionally i wear my hat backwards, i'm not an asshole, nor do i like john mayer or ben folds

I love the first line of Either Way.

What, no Clapton fans in here?????
Eric Clapton is definitely on my "Most Over-Rated of All-Time" list. I do recall the lineup of this fest being pretty good. I couldn't find it though on the clapton website...care to post it?

The recent event of my friend getting sued by the riaa for $6000 has got me thinking...can you get sued for downloading music from labels that aren't riaa members? Is there any organization like the riaa for independent labels? do any labels sue people directly?

i
2007...

First two shows so far on the spring tour to date, the first show had Bob on electric guitar for the first 7 songs and the second had the first 5 songs. Then it was back to the electric keyboard for the remainder of the show. I hope this keeps up...really missed his playing. I'd like to see the return of the acoustic set, but I'll take this for now!
Wow that is pretty awesome...still don't think I'd go see him ever again.

i think his voice got better but overall this is just a poor mans wide awake but hopefully it signals hes away from that digital crap and is going all out folksy... anyone else think the sonic stuff is kind of lifted from wilco? the woman at the begining of the album reminded me of "yankee hotel foxtrot" but in a far more gimmicky art for the sake of art way... thats my biggest problem with bright eyes, that art school bullshit... i dont even know how to describe it, after spending a year at an art school i was surrounded by a lot of shitty art and people who couldnt understand how it could be anything but the most amazing thing on earth.. this turned into a bit of a rant, im done.
-i wouldn't call anything that bright eyes has ever done "art school bullshit"
-digital ash is pretty great album
-wilco did not invent using weird sounds

I think that's a really interesting interpretation, but I (regretfully) present contrary evidence:
Tweedy played this song (then titled "A Gold-Toothed Lullaby for Rafters and Beams" -- with same lyrics) at the NCMA show in Raleigh 8/16/06 and said he wrote it for a friend's film back in 2003 and hadn't played it since then.
okay is there any material on this album that was actually written in 2006/2007? every song seems to have a solo acoustic version that was once played in 2003 under a different name with similar lyrics...have the creative juices stopped flowing?

Hmm...I can't imagine why someone would want to get rid of that sound...its pretty badass

word. whats the last one?
probably pinkerton, or maybe the freewheelin bob dylan....but probably pinkerton
-
silver jews - american water
wilco - agib
pavement - brighten the corners
palace - lost blues and other songs
neil young - on the beach.
as of now. and i could very much live without these albums they are just my faves as of now
Wow you have 3 of my 5 (agib, on the beach, american water)....and one of my others would be Wowee Zowee instead of Brighten the Corners.
So, I'm reading "Wilco: Learning How to Die"
