I dunno. If the Illuminati can get gas below $2.50/gal., I might go along.

Best wishes on your special day!

Condolences and hugs to the Cubs and their fans, and pending condolences to the Angels fans, but I don't believe in teams getting special breaks in the playoffs. Expand the Division series to seven games if the no-room-for-error nature of a five-game series seems too arbitrary, but if a team which looks great in lower-pressure situations folds in high-pressure ones, that's the breaks. Give them a cookie and a hug and get them off the field in favor of teams with more intestinal fortitude and grace under pressure. (Like the Red Sox, whose grit and grandeur makes this Mets fan deeply envious.) I

Luckily, the five minutes of the Rangers game I was able to see today included that goal. Welcome to N.Y.! -

I think it is wholly dependent on where you live. I make a doink over $40K a year, and I am really right on the edge of working poor here in the Mid-Hudson Valley. To even think about buying a house here, I would have to make about 50 percent more than what I am making now. -

Call it the Battleship Potemkin. -
At this point, Angels fans might not want to look.

You're welcome. I'm sure Lou has some equally inspiring words for his troops.

Yeah, I heard a similar discussion on FAN this morning. I don't agree with the four-home games thing, do agree with the Wild Card team playing the best team in the league, regardless of division. Philly doesn't look like they are having a big problem with the Brewers; Boston so far just seems to have the Angels' number. Playoffs I think were developed the same reason the World Series was developed - money, not to somehow determine which team in a particular season is the best.

Or, it could be the Cubs just ran into two strong starting pitching performances from LA, and a crap one from Dempster and a good one from Zambrano which was torpedoed by horrible defense. It will be up to Piniella to get their heads straight and win one game at a time.

Prosperity gospel. What a bunch of shit. Jesus cast the moneychangers from the temple, y'know.

I don't know, man. I am not given to apocalyptic thinking, but the financial meltdown has done it for me. It seems clear to me that Republican thinking on both foreign affairs and the economy is now starting to threaten the long-term (and medium- and short-term) prospects of the people of the United States of America. Palin may be a nice lady (though her apparent vindictiveness towards her enemies and sister's ex-husband in Alaska tend to belie that assumption) but she just doesn't have the brains to be president, so she shouldn't be vice president. -

Both Biden and Palin succeeded - Palin didn't implode, and Biden didn't come off as a smug dick. Palin at times sounded like she had a script and she was sticking to it, no matter what. Biden may have had a script too, but his looked less obvious. I wonder how many people are now barfing after Biden's eight-mavericks-in-a-row part at the end? -

I would like to know what a Bosniac is. Like a Sleestak? -
She should probably sneak back out. I knew the Brewers were not ready for prime time, but I am shocked by the Cubs. All props to Torre - it would be a pisser if LA won the series under his sage guidance while the Yanks fester.

Hey. I understand many people's instinctive revulsion to the bailout plan, but the tightening of credit has already played a role in killing my paper and may end up with payroll at my hapless company not being made one week. I am sure we are not the only company in this boat, so before you all take too much pleasure in the "demise" of Wall Street fat cats, keep in mind that a non-bailed-out financial system will hurt us, regular working people, a lot more than it hurts them. -
