  1. I was all set to become a mall Santa until I got my first journalism job.
  2. It's a utilitarian approach, and your response was deontological in nature. It is awfully hard to reconcile those two approaches to ethics.
  3. Saw No Country last night at our local Death Star Cinemas; saw Before The Devil Knows You're Dead at the Upstate on Friday night. Liked both a great deal, but thought the latter kind of got overwrought at the end, while the former saved the best for last. You can ink in Bardem for a best actor Oscar, in my opinion. He brought a sincere and palpable menace to his psycho-killer, which has become one of the tritest elements in filmmaking ever.
  4. An interesting proposal: December 15, 2007 Op-Ed Contributor Let Baseball Players Police Themselves By J. C. BRADBURY Kennesaw, Ga. ON Thursday, Major League Baseball released the former Senator George Mitchell
  5. One of my coworker's boyfriend had changed the wipers on his car, and my coworker left the old wipers on my seat at work this morning as a joke. I thought for a while that those wipers were my actual stolen ones, because it was 10 in the morning and my brain doesn't operate well until at least noon. It was kind of funny.
  6. A question: What do you think would happen if baseball adopted a drug-testing program as strict as cycling's?
  7. I still wish Piazza would have gotten into with Clemens.
  8. I didn't love anyone named in the Mitchell report. I liked Lo Duca and Todd Hundley, but that's about it. Clemens has always been a tool.
  9. Palace Theater in Albany would be nice.
  10. I was aiming more for drawing a comparison between tapers being irked at their work being distributed in a diminished form and what I do (journalism). I wouldn't be happy if someone transcribed one of my stories incorrectly, is what I mean.
  11. I suppose if somebody took one of my stories and left out every third word, I'd be pissed too.
  12. Sure. Also, everything I have heard from Boards of Canada I have really liked.
  13. I respect A-man's opinion on this, but as someone who doesn't want to get involved with the whole torrents thing, I am grateful, IRDB.
  14. One of the hidden advantages of being a weirdeaux is that we don't ever date girls like that.
  15. I don't think it was a prank. Kingston is full of broke-ass people, and it had been rainy lately. I think somebody just wanted a pair of new wipers without paying for them. This hasn't turned me into a conservative, but boy would I like five minutes in a room with just me, the perp and an aluminum baseball bat.
  16. Somebody stole the windshield wipers right off my car last night as it was parked next to the Senate House.
  17. Magic words for today's world: "I have a disability, and I am requesting an accommodation."
  18. I use AAC at 192, and it sounds fine to me.
  19. Eh, there is no way to keep kids from hearing those words. If you don't use them a lot yourself, chances are the kids won't either. In my family, my mom leads us all in swearing, so we are a foul-mouthed bunch.
  20. Yeah. They looked sharp when they first came out, but could use a reworking.
