Things I think are wrong with this country

Seems calculated to me. When's the last time anybody gave much of a shit about Ellen DeGeneres? -
Shit, that was good. What a player.
-
That's one pound more than I paid for it.

Can we help it if we live in or around the greatest city in ALL THE WORLD?
-
Well, you know how it is. You live in the New York mediaverse, and it's Yankees, Mets, Red Sox - all NL and AL easts and everything else is not as clearly in focus, if not obscured entirely.

Fox must be shitting straight up at the prospect of a Colorado-Cleveland series.

Yes. And in the name of SkyGod, get a better set of headphones! Serious, 128 kbps is about as low as I can go. I rip at 192 (AAC), and that sounds fine to me, but many prefer a higher rate.

I must say, I'm a bit shocked at what has happened with this ALCS.

Because it's pretty much the same thing

I think that would be more like EarthGoddess, who looks both like M. Chris and Janis Joplin. -
Completely against the former (see above) and kind of for the latter.

This is KIND of what evil bjorn looketh like: If you should see him, give him a pumpkin pie blizzard, and his evil will dissipate. -
Do tell. Want to make a prediction?

My understanding is the federal budget mostly consists of debt service, entitlements and national defense. Which part is Ron Paul proposing to eliminate? And it had better not be Social Security - I've been paying into that shit for 20+ years and I had better get something out of it in another 20+ years, or somebody's gonna get they ass kicked.

Part of the problem is that we can't, as a nation, agree on which way we all want to be led, on issues like abortion, gays getting married, war, and stuff like that. I had hoped, in the days after 9/11, that some of the divisive social issues we have been spatting about would have been put aside, but to W.'s eternal shame, they just cranked up the dial on them more.

I kind of like that Doobies song, to tell the truth. -

Well, yes, you do, actually. -

Call me a pinko, but I believe everyone should have the same level of health care, excepting plastic surgery. You want that shit, you pay for it yourself. Do poor people automatically get less clean water or broken sidewalks? (They do, a lot, actually, but I think they shouldn't.) The problem with running a society totally on profit motive is what we're seeing happening today - a development of a very small class of very rich people, who have more money than they can possibly use, to the detriment of everyone else, lower class and, increasingly, middle class. -

I agree with that as far as cars, TVs and other swank stuff goes. I happen to think health care should be kind of like sidewalks and clean drinking water. Provided to all, regardless of bank account girth. -
I meant this year, my young ward. What were the Vegas odds?
-
Sheeit, I would have picked the Marlins to win the pennant before the Rockies. Congratulations! "'C'est la vie,' said the old folks, 'goes to show you never can tell.'"

Oh, come on. Willie Nelson is from Texas, as are Joan Crawford, Lisa Whelchel and Tommy Tune and Billy Preston.

1. No socialized medicine. It works for every other GD industrialized nation in the world, and how could we possibly have a worse system than what we have now? 2. Looney Tunes not widely shown on kids' TV networks. This is causing real cultural illiteracy among our youth and depriving them of a seminal American experience. This must change. 3. The weak dollar. Don't want to get into details, but the dollar's feebleness vis a vis the loony has just hit me where I live.
-
Yeah, maybe poor, sick children will get some health care, huh?

Le Cercle Rouge was pretty damned good. An example of how you don't need crazy plot twists, gimmicks and lots of explosions to make a crime movie.

I'm not sure what the statute of limitations is about saying bad things about dead presidents.
