Some of it is pretty goofy. I heard that Dallas has the lowest committed payroll or something to that effect because Jerry's hurting a bit. How much of that thing was publicly financed?
-
Clearly the national league is at least somewhat inferior right now. Just look at the interleague records every year. The Cardinals' line was that Smoltz was tipping his pitches, though.

I have no answers to your question, but this might help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewel_(supermarket)

Must be his sparkling personality.

I guess that Crow can wait all the way till the next draft to sign.
-
I hope that Crow and Strasburg sign. There ain't no guarantees in life, boys. Baseball is not a great sport for holdouts.
-
I doubt it. He said that he's been friends with Vick since Vick was in high school and he was pushing for the Eagles to give Vick a chance. Uh...not really. Vick was not a great passer when he left the league and has been in prison for a long while.

You people are not carbon neutral. Or something. -
It's probably good for Porcello to get thrown out of a game every once in a while. One less chance for Jim Leyland to blow out his arm.
-
Dolphins also get demerits for renaming their stadium for a season. Wtf--Jimmy Buffet and Anheuser Busch. Get outta here.

The Blue Jays are reportedly going to let the White Sox have Alex Rios' contract (accepted waiver claim without negotiating a trade). I wonder how this will shake out. A lot of people think he is over paid. This statistical write-up suggests he's a good value: http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/blog_article/why-should-i-care-about-alex-rios/ I'm excited for the White Sox to have a plus defender, at least. Quentin-Podsednik-Dye must be the worst defensive outfield in the bigs.
-
Along those lines, the White Sox are 27-19 against teams that are over .500 on the year and 29-33 against teams currently sitting at .500 or less.

Very nice.

A fish worth way more than a home?

The worth of it is really confusing. I wonder if that's just the amount he's won in some competition. Edit: yeah http://www.whitemarlinopen.com/ -

Chicago radio stations are saying Clayton Richard, Aaron Poreda, Adam Russell, and Dexter Carter. I think Dexter Carter is going to be a stud. The Padres could get 32 starting pitchers out of this deal by 2010. Peavy will reportedly be ready by late August. Edit: I was thinking of Carter's former teammate, Dan Hudson. Dex's secondary stuff will probably not be ready by next year, but he has spent a lot of this year leading the minor leagues in Ks. Double edit: It's official per the White Sox' official facebook page.

White Sox reportedly trade for Peavy again per Jon Heyman's twitter lol wut
