  1. Most things I have read suggest that they got quite a package of prospects--just a notch or so lower than what the Phils were offering for Halladay.
  2. Cliff Lee reportedly traded to the Phils http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9866900/Sources:-Phils-reach-agreement-for-Indians%27-Lee
  3. Anyone remember when Bobby Jenks tied the MLB record for consecutive batters retired? Yeah...
  4. Joe, I am going to move this to TTL, which is the regular general interest forum. You'll probably get better responses there.
  5. Well I'll be damned. I guess I'll be coming 'round more often. Though, like Sir Stewart, I was enjoying being less compulsive about it.
  6. He wouldn't have married her if he hadn't been hit in the head so many times?
  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YKxf3OkpJc Classic Earl Weaver rant. NSFW.
  8. I'm not entirely convinced that Beckham is a better prospect than Flowers. I guess it depends on whether they each stick at their respective positions (middle infield and catcher). You might say that you have to give up your TWO best prospects and that certainly may be true as well.
  9. I'm not sure that's true. The White Sox have a few good prospects after a long drought. There's Tyler Flowers (obtained in the Javy Vazquez deal), a 23 year-old catcher who is mashing in AA, Aaron Poreda (recently called up), Jordan Danks (John's younger brother) who is a good CF prospect, a couple of Old Dominion pitchers drafted in 2008--Dan Hudson and Dexter Carter. I don't think a deal gets done, though.
  10. It's not that simple. Rice and beans, for instance, is very cheap and healthy. Most places aren't going to have locally-grown rice, but that's some stuff that is plenty cheap, natural, and healthy.
  11. It's really buggy in IE6--so I switched to Firefox (which I prefer so I'm not really whining). Anyway, there are no buttons to reply to individual posts and no avatars in IE6.
  12. I wonder why the Tribune and Sun Times both chose such unflattering pictures to run with their write-ups.
  13. The site for his most recent album lists Jefferson Macklin as his manager. Macklin appears to work or have worked for Undertow. I would think he or the entertainment lawyer listed on the lawsuit filing would be the official sources.
  14. White Sox beat writer Joe Cowley is reporting that Peavy is rejecting the deal
  15. 20-0, mi amigo. I mean, though, what do you expect vs. Bartolo Colon, Lance frickin Broadway, and Jimmy frickin Gobble? That's going to happen every once in a while.
  16. Supposedly Peavy wants his $22 million option for 2013 or whatever picked up. That's a lotta money.
  17. I like this song. It reminds me of AGIB.
  18. Gun may have been jumped. This is from the guy who broke the story last night:
  19. The radio station was reporting Clayton Richard and Aaron Poreda (the latter is the Sox' top pitching prospect) plus two PTBNL -- neither of the PTBNL will be Gordon Beckham (the Sox' top position player prospect).
  20. Peavy to the White Sox? http://www3.signonsandiego.com/stories/200...may-be-/?padres The White Sox' radio flagship is reporting that the deal is done pending Peavy's approval (he has a NTC).
  21. I stood next to a guy who danced to and acted out the lyrics at one of the Pixies reunion shows. He sang along, but was pretty quiet. I thought it was funny/gooberish, but it didn't bother me all that much.
