This is too good not to share. Vish Khanna has put together a (very) detailed timeline on Eric's Trip. You may be saying Eric's Who, as I was a couple years ago, but holy shit this band has influenced almost everybody in the last 15 years. For instance - almost everything good out of TO has Rick White's hands on it. The Sadies, the $100 album and the Andre Ethier albums were produced by him and he wrote a unrecorded song for Ian and Simone ($100) that they did on Friday. http://exclaim.ca/articles/multiarticlesub...&fid1=37539

Oops - sorry I thought i was this new version of the Basement tapes: ie MIXING UP THE MEDICINE A new CD release from the Hollow Horn Encore Label that features the first ever release of the legendary Basement Tapes Safety Master. This was a tape reportedly made by Garth Hudson in early 1968, under full studio conditions, of the best available original master tapes made in the summer of 1967 and it features the bulk of the original songs that were recorded. This safety tape features truly breathtaking sound quality and also in the majority of cases, features the material in it s original

umm. Is that an official thing? If not then...... Sloan were playing down the street from AC Newman last month. Newman said that it was always a sign of true love if your girlfriend resisted Chris Murphy's advances. 'Honey, you didn't hook up with the Sloan guy? Oh I love you so much' Sounds like there is some history there.

Just came back from the $100 instore. OMFG this band is mesmerizing. Simone and Ian went into little stories of each song, one about Lesbians having to escape rural Alberta (Hell's a Place) and another about a Grandfather and ex-soldier of the Reich building a cottage between the 'lake and the rails' to get away from the memories of war (Mardibrar). The band had requested that the instore be relatively early at 4pm, allowing some school kids to see them and still make it home before nightfall. When this was mentioned in the emails arranging the thing, I thought it was sorta stran

Have not heard the Earle, but I too have been using the Phosphorescent as a kind of benchmark for recent country music. You're right in that not a whole lot of other recent stuff has measured up. Rock Plaza Central - 'Neath the Lions Paw' - still hear some topped out distortion on the EP. Strange, but the songs are great.

Agree. BFB usually hits it out of the park, yet the new one is not grabbing me much either. Strange.

Me too - 'cept there is no mano-a-man Bro-love aspect. Think Touchdown is the best thing I've heard this year. 'Don't take me to space, man'

always a good choice. Welcome. me: Got $100 for an instore this afternoon at 4pm. Then is it off to see them in a triple bill with the weakerthans/constanties. Yay!

The band member who runs their myspace site (I think it's the fuzzy haired lead guitar dude) made them up. They are all in the MEC myspace photo gallery.
